Full-Time, 12-18 Months
JOB DESCRIPTION: In collaboration with the Dean for Enrollment Operations and Welcome Center Services, the Director of Student Success Services, and other college staff and faculty, this individual will be responsible for providing learning-centered, strengths-based support to students through individual and group advisement and other programs related to the success and retention of Tompkins Cortland Community College students.
This position is within the Faculty Association Union. Candidates must currently reside or be willing to relocate to New York State at time of employment. Additionally, maintaining New York State residency will be required for the duration of employment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and minimum of one years’ experience in academic advising, teaching, or providing support services to students in a postsecondary environment (may include equivalent paraprofessional experience) or Master’s degree. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as student or staff member in a community college.
EXPECTED HIRING SALARY RANGE: $66,177-$113,545 Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a College employee, this appointment includes NYS retirement benefit options with a choice of a pension or generous matches to 414H, attractive Health Care options with 80% of premiums covered by the College, supportive work-life balance with paid time off and ability of application to Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) in addition to other benefits offered by the College. POSITION OFFERED: Nanotechnology – Visiting Teaching Faculty
EMPLOYMENT DATE: January 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Temporary/Full-Time/Visiting/Renewable
JOB DESCRIPTION: Tompkins Cortland Community College is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable faculty member to lead the work of the College in Nanotechnology. Building on the College micro credential and new, $650,000 lab, the goal of this position is to develop new curriculum, an AAS and/or AS, degree programs and associated coursework in Nanotechnology for SUNY and State approval and to teach these new curricula. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nanoscience, materials science, physical chemistry, or a related field, and a passion for student success in a community college setting. This position involves teaching, curriculum development, student advising, and collaboration with industry partners to ensure workforce relevance. The successful candidate will receive a 50% reduced teaching load in their first year to build the new program(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a closely related field. Experience with nanofabrication tools and characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, AFM, spectroscopy). Commitment student-centered teaching.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level (community college experience preferred). Industry experience in nanotechnology or related sectors. Experience with curriculum development and accreditation processes. Familiarity with grant writing and managing funded projects. Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
