The Accounts payable Coordinator performs accounting, review, and compliance duties in the preparation and maintenance of disbursements and other financial records.


  • Receives, reviews and processes invoices and other requests for payment; ensures adherence to fiscal policies; verifies proper approvals; issues checks for payment.
  • Controls and issues purchase orders; checks purchase orders and other documentation to reconcile data between purchase orders and invoices.
  • Performs data entry on vouchers.
  • Audits and processes travel requests; maintains travel advances and records.
  • Prepares and files state, city and parish sales tax reports. Responds to inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Answers inquiries regarding payment by college checks.
  • Answers general Business Office telephone. Receives and sorts incoming departmental mail.
  • Balances Accounts Payable ledger accounts weekly and monthly.
  • Reconciles check cashing service account monthly.
  • Process quarterly annuity payments.
  • Assists working the front counter, and semester registration and financial clearance.
  • Maintains various accounting, files, and records.
  • Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.





Requirements to perform this job successfully: an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Associate’s Degree/ Two years of College + Two (2) years of related work experience -OR four (4) years of related work experience
  • People and team oriented individual and ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounting functions. Detail and accuracy oriented.
  • Good organizational and strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated, well organized, and able to multi-task
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other general office equipment (i.e., printer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, and typewriter). Computer skills necessary including Microsoft Office Suite.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other Business related major
  • Three years related accounts payable experience
  • Higher Education work experience
  • Experience with SunGard Banner Financial software
  • Experience with a selective, residential, Liberal Arts college.
