SUMMARY
The Chaplain and Director of the Christian Leadership Center serves as a missionally central member of the college staff
and Student Affairs division, and will oversee religious life, minister to campus constituents, and manage the area of
Christian Leadership, contributing to the overall strategic direction and leadership of the department and division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads and manages the Christian Leadership Center (CLC), the Pathways endorsement program, and related activities.
Serves as one of the primary liaisons between the College and the United Methodist Church and the GBHEM, including
representing the College through church-related forums and by attending events including, but not limited to, campus visit
days, summer orientation programs, and the Louisiana Annual Conference. Maintains robust outreach to local churches.
Serves as the Instructor for REL 200 (CLC Colloquium), TREK 151 (CLC Service-Learning), and TREK 250 (CLC
Career Exploration), providing academic support, professional development mentoring, guidance and instruction to
Centenary College students in an intellectually rigorous but developmentally supportive environment. May teach other
courses dependent on qualifications, interests, and time available.
Collaborates with Student Affairs colleagues and other staff members on areas of common programming and income
assistance resources for students including a food bank partnership.
Provides ongoing opportunities for on-campus worship and interfaith activities. Offers invocations and serves as needed at
campus events including but not limited to monthly faculty meetings, convocations, and commencement.
Plans the annual Christmas Candlelight program and Easter Sunrise Service in collaboration with the Centenary College
Choir director, Camarata director, and the President’s Office.
Maintains and implements campus policies regarding outside religious organizations and provides support to outside
campus ministry representatives for organizations such as Catholic Campus Ministries, Canterbury House, Baptist
Collegiate Ministry, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Collaborates with Student Involvement to approve, advise,
strengthen and manage student organizations that support spiritual and religious life, communiity and expression.
Oversees Christian Leadership student internships and Temenos small groups and maintains relationships with internship
site mentors and small group volunteer leaders.
In cooperation with the Admissions Office, plans and implements a recruitment plan for prospective students, provides
coordination in Christian Leadership Center recruitment in churches and faith-based organizations, and conducts
interviews with prospective CLC students and exit interviews with CLC departing students.
Participates in campus committees and serves on the President’s Extended Cabinet. Collaborates with other staff to seek
and manage grants. Completes other related projects, duties, and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Provides one-on-one pastoral care, counseling and referrals upon request; and serves as a confidential Title IX resource.

Minimum
- Master of Divinity or related Master’s degree.
- Licensed Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church.
- People-oriented personality, good communication skills, and able to work with a diverse group of people.
- Well organized and self-motivated.
- Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.
Preferred
- Commissioned or ordained as a Deacon or an Elder in The United Methodist Church or pursuing such credentials.
- Prior participation in the Christian Leadership Center or another similar program as a student or professional.
- Experience with a selective, residential, Liberal Arts college.

SUMMARY
Provides direct counseling services to students through short-term individual and group solution focused
counseling and special programs. Supervises counseling and health information staff and directs the
Department of Counseling Services and Health Information. Counseling and health information services
are provided to Centenary students without cost and are not billed to insurance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
- Oversees the functional areas of counseling, health information, and student wellness support, ensuring alignment with campus health and wellness goals.
- Provides individual counseling to students to address psychological, personal, social, academic,and related needs, and refers students to community services when appropriate.
- Supervises the Health and Counseling Services Coordinator, providing guidance and support for the management of immunization records, insurance assistance, and educational outreach.
- Recruits, selects, and supervises undergraduate student office assistants and one or more masterslevel interns.
- Collaborates with faculty, staff, and external agencies on matters concerning student psychological health, assessments, and support needs.
- Develops tailored strategies to assist students experiencing personal challenges or psychological issues. Trains students and staff in peer counseling and referral skills.
- Coordinates referrals for psychological and vocational assessments with community providers, interprets test results, and makes recommendations as needed. Builds and sustains cooperative relationships with community mental health agencies and organizations.
- Prepares reports and does ongoing assessment and analysis of counseling and health information activities, including progress, recommendations, and insights.
- Consults with the Disability Services Coordinator on reasonable accommodations, including Emotional Support Animals and other FHA and ADA-related needs.
- Manages the departmental budget, ensuring resources align with counseling objectives.
- Maintains counseling and administrative records.
- Assesses student psychological health in emergency situations and recommends support options.
- Performs other relevant duties and projects as assigned.

Supervises the Health and Counseling Services Coordinator, masters-level graduate intern(s), and undergraduate student workers.
QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM
- Graduate degree in a related field of study.
- Must have and maintain licensure in Louisiana (LPC, LCSW or commensurate credential)
- Must be a people-oriented individual, possess good communication skills, and have the ability to work with a diverse group of people.

- Ability to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area and willingness to work some nights and weekends
PREFERRED
- Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a closely related field and 3 years of professional experience.
- Well organized.
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping systems.
- Previous supervisory experience.
