Responsibilities:
As a Medical Assistant at Sparrow Health System, you will play a crucial role in providing efficient and compassionate patient care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for examinations, obtaining vital signs and chief complaints, and accurately documenting relevant information.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform laboratory and diagnostic testing, administer oral and injectable medications, and ensure timely prescription processing.
- Communication and Coordination: Answer, screen, and triage telephone calls, schedule tests and referral appointments, and engage in patient/family teaching as appropriate.
- Quality Improvement: Work on gaps in care registries to enhance the quality of care provided, maintain practice standards, and participate in in-services and committees.
Qualifications:
- Certification: MA Certification preferred.
- Experience: Relevant clinical experience within the past 5 years; completion of a medical assistant program in the last two years is acceptable. Previous work experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited medical assistant program, including an externship, or a minimum of 6 months of medical assistant experience in a clinical capacity.
- Skills: Ability to provide age-specific care, necessary visual and auditory acuity, positive team attitude, and proficiency in an EMR environment.
