Accounting Assistant

Location:  South Whitley

Job Title:  Accounting Assistant

Department:  Administration 

Reports to:  Chief Financial Officer

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30a-5p.  Weekends and extended hours may be needed during month end.

 

Summary: Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data to maintain accounting records by performing the following duties.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports Ag Plus' stated Vision, Mission, and Business Values.
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
  • Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.
  • Assists employees and customers by answering questions related to accounts receivable and related procedures.
  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and customer payments (checks/ACH), substantiating business transactions.
  • Verifies and posts details of daily business transactions for each location daily, including daily sales and bank deposits, to appropriate accounts, ledgers, or computer spreadsheets and databases, according to company procedures.
  • Processes credit card payments from 3rd party clearing houses.
  • Processes Customer Online payments.
  • Review, balance, and interpret computer reports, and make corrections.
  • Reconciles grain checks received to customer settlements and investigate variances.
  • Prepares bank reconciliations.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as directed by the CFO.

 

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This job has no employee supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience                                                      

A High School diploma and three to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills                                                                 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

 

Mathematical Skills                                                         

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.

 

 

Reasoning Ability                                                              

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills                                                                

To perform this job successfully, an individual should know accounting software, database software, Internet software, spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
