The Department of Economics in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute invites applications for two open-rank tenure-track faculty positions. Candidates from all ranks are encouraged to apply. The start date for the position is August 2024.

The Department seeks candidates for tenured or tenure track faculty in the following areas: (1) environmental economics, including energy economics; (2) applied econometrics; and (3) applied microeconomic theory and policy.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Economics (or expect to complete the degree by August 2024), show evidence of effective and high-quality teaching at the collegiate level, and evidence of a sustained program of high-quality research and publications. For senior candidates, evidence or potential for securing external funding is highly desirable. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and actively contribute to a vibrant interdisciplinary culture that spans Rensselaer's communities.


Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range:

Assistant Professor:  $110,000 - $130,000
Associate Professor: $129,000 - $156,000
Professor: $155,000 - $185,000

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
