Position Overview: The Financial Controller at Agbotic Inc. will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, effective financial management, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves managing financial processes, utilizing advanced technologies, and supporting the company’s mission of sustainable and organic farming. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, financial expertise, and a commitment to innovation and integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s mission and goals.

Provide accurate and truthful information in all financial reports and forecasts.

Maintain an open, clear, and consistent level of communication with all stakeholders.

Operational Oversight:

Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

Ensure the establishment and maintenance of proper internal controls and standard operating procedures.

Manage cash flows effectively to support the continuing operations of the greenhouses and maintain an emergency reserve fund.

Team Leadership and Culture:

Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.

Manage one employee in the finance department, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and development.

Encourage professional growth and knowledge development within the team.

Promote a positive and supportive work environment, celebrating milestones and achievements.

Technology and Innovation:

Leverage technology, including AI and machine learning, to streamline financial processes and reduce the demand on human interaction.

Implement systems-based approaches to solving financial problems and improving efficiency.

Develop and utilize a custom ChatGPT for financial summaries and key measurements.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

Prepare and present accurate financial reports, forecasts, and analyses to senior leadership and the board.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.

Conduct regular financial reviews and audits to maintain accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.

Quality Control and Safety:

Ensure high standards for financial practices and data security.

Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety protocols and financial standards.

Address any deficiencies promptly to maintain a secure and efficient working environment.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or CPA preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role, preferably in a similar industry.

Proven experience in managing financial operations and leading diverse teams.

Technical Skills:

Strong understanding of financial management, reporting, and compliance.

Proficiency in accounting software and tools, including QuickBooks and ERP systems.

Experience with data analysis and reporting tools, as well as AI and machine learning applications in finance.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
