J.B. Hunt is hiring tractor-trailer mechanics for openings in our Sumner location! Join our team of talented diesel mechanics and you’ll work with the latest technology, tools and diagnostics to keep our modern fleet of trucks and equipment moving.
You'll perform maintenance, service and repair to J.B. Hunt trailers, containers, chassis and other equipment either in our maintenance shop or at a customer location or the rail yard.
- Accurately perform repairs on JBHT tractors and trailers up to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines, including air brake systems and FHWA inspections.
- Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures.
- Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers.
The starting pay range for these positions is $25.82 - $41.31 per hour, depending on position.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age with at least 1 year of experience in tractor-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
- Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program.
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes
- A/C certification
- Basic welding skills (MIG and stick)
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team
