Jr. Legal/Accident Benefits Clerk
Our growing, boutique law firm in downtown Kitchener, practicing exclusively in personal injury, seeks a full time Jr. Legal/Accident Benefits Clerk to join our growing team. Experience in the field of accident benefits and / or bodily injury claims through clerking or adjusting is preferable, as well as experience in drafting civil litigation pleadings. The applicant should be capable of working as an individual or as part of a team.
- Act as liaison between clients and supervising lawyer.
- Responsible for clerical, administrative and general office duties.
- Organize and expedite flow of work.
- Responsible for follow up with lawyer concerning work activities.
- Processing and responding to legal positions and demands made by accident benefit insurers.
- Maintaining multiple calendars and scheduling.
- Assisting with the drafting of pleadings and court/ tribunal filings, as required, at the direction of a responsible lawyer or clerk.
- Drafting correspondence and legal documents as directed by supervising lawyer.
- Communicate regularly with clients and other representatives in a professional manner by phone, in writing or in person.
- Any similar tasks that may be assigned to you.
- Advocacy: fighting to protect the rights of clients, and demanding insurers live up to their obligations, in law.

Applicant should be extremely organized and detail-oriented as well as proactive regarding upcoming deadlines and schedules. Preference will be given to those applicants who have completed a Law Clerk course, and have relevant work experience. Two years or more of experience is preferred; exceptional applicants with one year of experience will be considered.
Remuneration commensurate with experience, and is competitive in the local market.
