JOB TITLE:                 Cross Country Ski Shop / Snow Tubing Attendant

 BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 Assist the Ski Manager with meeting specific operational goals, general ski shop procedures, skiing, snowshoeing, traction devices and snow tubing safety measures.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 Maintain a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming ski environment for all guests.

• Promote Mohonk Mountain House’s unique cross-country skiing and snowshoeing experiences through positive guest engagement and knowledgeable service.
• Communicate clearly with the Ski Manager regarding guest needs, trail conditions, upcoming events, and any issues or concerns requiring attention.
• Record, organize, and coordinate all ski lesson reservations accurately and efficiently.
• Perform daily office procedures, including answering phones, completing condition reports, processing assumption of risk forms and rental sheets, and maintaining voicemail and related administrative systems.
• Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system accurately to process rental transactions, lessons, and merchandise sales.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance in the Ski Shop and Snow Tube Hill at all times.
• Organize and oversee an efficient rental system for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing equipment.
• Interact with all guests and co-workers in a courteous, professional, and service-oriented manner.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with the ski, skate, and activities teams, as well as all other Mohonk Mountain House departments.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs on ski and snowshoe rental equipment, including installing or replacing bindings, riveting, and repairing decking as needed.
• Recommend appropriate ski and snowshoe trails to guests, prioritizing safety and matching suggestions to each guest’s ability level.
• Inspect trail conditions regularly and provide recommendations for maintenance and usage.
• Assist with snow and ice removal at the front and rear entrances of the Ski Shop and on the Boat Dock to ensure safe guest access.
• Lead snow tubing operations, ensuring guest safety, adherence to Mohonk Mountain House policies, and delivery of an engaging and fun recreational experience.
• Snow Tubing:  assist with inflation, inspection, maintenance of Snow Tubes. Assist with inspection, maintenance and installation of mats, pads and fencing. 
• Demonstrate an outgoing, friendly, and professional demeanor when interacting with guests and team members.
• Exhibit trustworthiness, dependability, and honesty in all responsibilities and guest interactions.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
• Perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent injury to self or others.
• Operate snow blowers and other snow maintenance equipment safely.
• Assist guests with merchandise sales and transactions in the Ski Shop.
• Refill fuel containers for snowmobiles and related equipment as needed.
• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance procedures to uphold a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment.
• Demonstrate composure, professionalism, and sound judgment when handling change, adversity, or high-pressure situations.
• Identify and analyze problems effectively, developing and implementing appropriate action plans to resolve issues promptly and efficiently.
• Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House’s Dress and Grooming Standards; presenting a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance and maintaining a positive, professional image to our customers.
• Learn and successfully demonstrate the Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps with Service Strategies with guests and staff.   
• Reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist and flex arms, walk up and down stairs/inclines, sit, climb up/down ladders or stand for up to 5 hours at a time. Reach areas as high 8 feet with the use of a step ladder.
• Lift up to 75 pounds from ground level to waist level and carry a distance of up to 200 feet with/ without assistance.  Walk up to 5 miles per day.
• See close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
• Speak, read and write the English language and communicate in a clear and congenial manner, with our guests, visitors and employees.  Hear verbal instructions, directions and warnings.
• Inspect the work of others by touch, sight, sound and smell for conformance to prescribed standards.
• Carry a two-way portable radio and earpiece to communicate and provide immediate response to emergency situations. 
• Perform basic mathematic calculations and cash handling skills.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

 Valid Driver’s License and at least 21 years of age, or 20 years of age with at least two years of licensed driving experience.

• Eligible to legally work in the U.S.
• CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.

•Operate vehicles and powered equipment including mowers, tractors, bucket loaders, twin-axle vehicles, snowplow, chainsaws, trimmers, edgers, pole saws, snow blower, aerators, and bucket loaders.
•Cultivate, plant, transplant, seed, water, stake, prune, dead-head, weed, rake, edge, mulch, harvest and attend to landscapes, small trees, groundcovers, shrubs, pathways, annual/perennial beds.
•Haul garden debris, clear brush, and remove litter.
•Use hand tools such as shovels, pruners, rakes, forks, hoes, wheelbarrows, sprayers, hoses, and other garden tools to prepare and maintain landscaping.
•Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches using hand or power tools.
•Inspect and take corrective action for plant diseases, pests, and wildlife damage.
•Work with staff to maintain the integrity of assigned landscape areas.
•Inspect, clean, and maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
•Learn and maintain a basic level of horticultural and plant knowledge.
•Work with staff to maintain the integrity of assigned landscape areas.
•Maintain assigned grounds equipment in good working order and maintain inventories.
•Assist the Grounds Foreman in the instillation of lawn and landscape projects.
•Analyze and make recommendations concerning grounds methods, equipment and plantings.
•Work with other garden, grounds, greenhouse, and flower shop professionals as assigned
•Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
•Support other departments in the completion of grounds related tasks.
•Coordinate use, maintenance, and repair of all grounds vehicles and equipment with Grounds Foreman and other grounds staff.
•Perform weekly utility cart and biweekly vehicle maintenance checks
•Interact with fellow staff and guests in a professional, courteous method.
•Contribute to maintaining staff morale positively and exemplify a cooperative attitude.
•Operate vehicles safely while driving and/or parking in compliance with Mohonk Mountain House Traffic Rules and Regulations.

•Work outdoors and expose self to natural elements including rain, heat, wind, weather extremes, pollen, and insects.
•Wear Proper Protective Equipment when performing tasks that recommend such equipment.
•Pay close attention to details.
•Maintain order on job site and within the vehicle shed and other grounds storage areas.
•Maintain a flexible work schedule including days/nights, weekdays/weekends, holidays, and during peak periods of business.
•Interact with fellow staff and guests in a professional, courteous method.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Valid Driver’s License and at least 21 years of age, or 20 years of age with at least two years of licensed driving experience.
•Previous landscaping experience preferred.

Typical parks worker duties to include but not limited to: garbage/recycle disposal, carriage road maintenance, firewood production, utility maintenance, tree removal/pruning, snow/ice removal, auto road maintenance and other seasonal property maintenance tasks.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

•    Operate vehicles and powered equipment including, tractors w/o implements, bucket loaders, twin-axle vehicles w/o dump beds, bulldozer, snowplow, chainsaws, trimmers, compacters, pole saws, snow blower, roller, and excavator. 

•    Pick up and dispose of trash from garbage and recycle receptacles.

•    Use hand tools such as shovels, pruners, rakes, pitch forks, wheelbarrows, hoses, tamper, and pruners

•    Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures such as buildings, fences, or benches using hand or power tools.

•    Handle and maintain safe operation of a chainsaws.

•    Work with staff to maintain the integrity of assigned work areas.         

•    Inspect, clean, and maintain tools and equipment in good working order.   

•    Able to fall, cut, buck, and process trees into firewood.

•    Work with stacking and loading hay

•    Maintain assigned Parks equipment in good working order and maintain inventories.

•    Assist the Parks Foreman in the construction and installation of various projects.

•    Maintain drainage systems, repair culverts and walls within the property 

•    Able to back up trailer unassisted.

•    Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.

•    Support other departments in the completion other related related tasks.

•    Coordinate use, maintenance, and repair of all Parks and Grounds vehicles and equipment with Parks Foreman and other grounds staff.

•    Keep all vehicle roadways and carriage roads surfaces smooth, clean, and clear.

•    Work during winter weather keeping all roadways and walking paths safe and accessible using plows, blowers, salt spreaders, and shovels.

•    Interact with fellow staff and guests in a professional, courteous method.

•    Be on call all year for storm events.

•    Keep road edges clean and clear of branches, grasses, and debris. 

•    Contribute to maintaining staff morale positively and exemplify a cooperative attitude.

•    Operate vehicles safely while driving and/or parking in compliance with Mohonk Mountain House Traffic Rules and Regulations.
