We are a privately held operating and investment group with multiple businesses across technology, services, e-commerce, R&D, and operating companies. We are hiring one exceptional Accounting Manager / Controller to own accounting across the entire portfolio. This is not a narrow “bookkeeper” role and not a big-company CFO role. This is a hands-on ownership role with a clear path to becoming CFO of the holdings company for the right person.
The Role
You will own the books end-to-end across multiple entities and work directly with the owner. You’ll be responsible for accuracy, timeliness, and clarity of financials - not just compliance. You need to have personally owned full-cycle Accounting and month-end close without supervision
If you enjoy clean closes, fixing messy systems, and being accountable for real numbers, this role will fit you well.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Close
- Own full-cycle accounting for multiple entities
- Monthly close with reconciled balance sheets
- Accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
- Maintain clean, CPA-ready books at all times
Cash & Operations
- Daily visibility into cash position
- Manage AR/AP and loan tracking (including SBA loans)
- Intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Support acquisitions, new entity setup, and transitions
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare owner-level financial summaries
- Explain variances and anomalies (not just report numbers)
- Build and maintain schedules in Excel (loans, cash, etc.)
CPA & External Coordination
- Prepare clean packages for external tax CPAs
- Coordinate audits, lender requests, and due diligence
- Research accounting treatments and present options when needed
What this Role is (and is Not)
This role IS:
- Hands-on
- Fast-paced
- Ownership-driven
- Detail-intensive
This role is NOT:
- A passive reporting role
- A narrow AP/AR job
- A place to hide behind process or bureaucracy
Required Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience
- Owned books end-to-end (not just assisted)
- Multi-entity accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP fundamentals
- Deep experience with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop)
- Strong Excel skills (reconciliations, schedules, analysis)
Ideal Background (Nice to Have!)
- Experience with small or mid-sized owner-led companies
- SBA loan or acquisition accounting exposure
- Comfortable operating in imperfect, evolving environments
- Experience working directly with founders or owners
Personal Traits We Value
- Extremely detail-oriented
- High ownership mentality
- Calm under pressure
- Responsive and accountable
- Curious and willing to research unfamiliar issues
- Hungry to grow into a larger leadership role over time
Growth Opportunities
This role has a clear path to CFO of the holdings company for the right person - but that growth will earned through performance.
Compensation
- Competitive base salary ($90K+ based on experience and fit)
- Health insurance reimbursements
- Performance-based bonus potential
- Fully remote
- Long-term growth opportunity
How to Apply
Please apply with your resume and include a brief note answering:
Have you personally owned the books end-to-end for multiple entities? If yes, briefly describe your experience.
Applications without this clarity may not be considered.
