SR. Bookkeeper for Multi-Company Enterprise

A highly diversified enterprise in Staunton is seeking a compentent, knowledgeable and experienced senior level bookkeeper to manage financial transactions for four existing companies and one startup company.  Duties range from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and monthly reconciliations, and from standard reports to local, state, and federal tax filings, reports and monitoring, and weekly payroll duties.

Other responsibilities include calculating tax payments and filing monthly and quarterly returns. To be successful in this role, candidate must have previous senior level bookkeeping experience and a flair for spotting numerical mistakes.

The successful candidate will provide our CEO and Board of Directors with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of our businesses, while ensuring we’re compliant with all tax regulations. Working with our CPA, the successful candidate will help ensure timely filings and payment submissions for state and federal quarterly filings and payments, and annual taxes for each company.


  • Manage all accounting transactions
  • Assist with preparation of budget forecasts
  • Publish monthly financial reports for the CEO
  • Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Compute taxes for CPA to prepare tax returns
  • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
  • Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
  • Audit financial transactions and documents
  • Work seamlessly and professionally with vendors and our staffs
  • Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups, reviews, and credit card security quarterly assessments
  • Work with CEO to conduct annual insurance audits
  • Comply with financial policies and regulations


  • Work experience as a Senior Level Bookkeeper
  • Excellent knowledge of bookkeeping regulations and procedures
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks accounting software
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including tables and charts
  • Experience with general ledger functions
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • BS in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree preferred
  • Successful work history of relevant experience required
