Job Description
Summary:
Provide aid to customers' disabled vehicles in designated service areas using tow and battery service equipment within established guidelines and procedures. Represent the company as a professional service technician in all assignments.
Essential Functions:
Perform towing services to members, designated customers and commercial accounts on a permanent or temporary basis. Initiate towing in accordance with established procedures.
Perform emergency road service and minor emergency repairs for members, designated customers and commercial accounts.
Utilize communications and electronic equipment according to established procedures to maintain contact with dispatch to ensure availability.
Assist public agencies, under the direction of agency officials, in clearing traffic lanes or performing other road services in emergency situations, while adhering to safety rules and guidelines.
Maintain the appearance and general mechanical condition of the vehicle and equipment assigned for your use.
Report and document any accident, damage or unusual circumstances involving the assigned vehicle, vehicle of a member, designated customer or commercial account according to established procedures.
Attend mechanical and towing certification courses as requested to maintain knowledge and proficiency of automotive towing concepts and techniques.
Maintain eligibility of all necessary tow certifications, licenses and permits, up to and including a valid state-issued driver’s license with appropriate endorsements.
Accept cash, checks and credit card transactions in accordance with established procedures for services rendered. Complete and issue invoices and/or statements to record these transactions.
Perform routine record-keeping, such as gas and mileage logs.
Adhere to strict road service safety policies, member service guidelines and uniform codes promoted by company.
Communicate and present company in a professional, positive, quality-service oriented manner to all members, potential members, customers, agency officials and the general public.
Experience/Skills/Education:
Must maintain excellent driving record.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
Must be able to safety drive in both rural and urban areas in various road/weather conditions.
Strong customer services and verbal communication skills required.
Tow experience and/or basic automotive repair experience preferred.
High school completion preferred.
Basic writing and mathematics skills required.
Ability to utilize a computer, phone and tablet.
English/Spanish bilingual skills a plus – pay differential for bilingual qualifications.
Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
Balancing, bending and kneeling 5 to 10 minutes at a time.
Position requires physical ability to operate and drive various types of trucks with manual and automatic transmissions.
Position is primarily outdoors and in a service vehicle.
Position is exposed to excessive noise and changes in temperature.
Physical attendance at the job site is an essential duty.
