Job Summary | The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2026. Our department seeks candidates whose research develops and applies mathematical frameworks toward the understanding of challenging problems with societal or technological impact in areas such as the life sciences, quantum systems, and engineering. We are particularly seeking candidates who employ mathematically principled approaches for the design and analysis of novel simulation and computational methodologies, including those pertaining to data science, scientific machine learning, and optimization. Of special interest are candidates whose work could support RPI's initiatives in quantum research and education, or more broadly could align with the objectives of the Future of Computing Institute. This position is part of a faculty cluster hire funded by support from the Simons Foundation designed to stimulate research in the basic sciences across New York State. |
Minimum Qualifications | All candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree, or foreign degree equivalent in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a closely related field. Science/Special Education Teacher
**Sign On Bonus $5,000** (paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 30 days and 1/2 at a year)**
Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - no weekends
As a Science and Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement classroom instructional plans for students and support student success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Assistant Principal and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.
- Provide individualized instruction in the area of Science to High school students in accordance and alignment with New York State curriculum standards and graduation requirements.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
- Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, and the ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21.
- Requiresan NYS certification in Special Education or an appropriate subject area.

Job Summary | The Sr. Major Gift Officer will serve as the Sr. Director of Development for the School of Science and is the lead Advancement Officer in the school and responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive advancement program to secure philanthropic resources for the top priority projects of the Institute and the school.
