Position description:
Our department is interested in welcoming candidates with a Ph.D. in geosciences or a closely-related field, who have the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching, and should be committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. Teaching responsibilities for the full-time, benefits-eligible visiting assistant professor appointment for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 academic years will include a mid-level sedimentology and stratigraphy course with lab, an introductory environmental geosciences course with labs, and possibly an additional course and lab depending on the candidate's area(s) of expertise. Union has three 10-week trimesters. This position involves teaching one course and associated laboratory sections each of the trimesters. The candidate may involve undergraduates in their research, and the Department will provide space and access to an exceptional suite of advanced instrumentation (including LA-ICP-MS, a full stable isotope lab, SEM, XRD, and ion chromatographs) in support of research and teaching. A PhD is expected by the date of appointment. Candidates with 1-3 years of postdoc experience or other teaching or postgraduate experience will be given preference.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent preparation to teach courses in 19th and/or 20th century U.S. history, specialty open. The normal teaching load at Union College is six courses over three trimesters. The candidate would be expected to offer chronological surveys or thematic courses at the 100- or 200-level, including existing classes from the History Department’s current catalog. Teaching experience as an instructor of record preferred, as well as ability to offer classes that complement those of the Department’s current faculty.
Ph.D. in History or closely related field required at time of appointment (September 1, 2026).
About the History Department:
The History Department at Union College offers undergraduate courses that range from introductory surveys, through more focused topical courses, to advanced seminars. Many of these are writing-intensive courses that contribute to Union’s Writing Across the Curriculum program. All history majors write a senior thesis, a significant independent project directed by a History professor. Faculty teach courses in their respective areas of expertise, including by region, African, American (colonial, nineteenth, and twentieth century), East Asian, European (medieval, early modern, and modern), Latin America, South Asian, as well as topics such as digital history, environmental history, history of gender and identity, history of science and technology, Jewish history, and public history. Department members are active researchers with a strong publication record with prominent journals and publishers.

Job Summary | The Manager for Principal Gifts and Presidential Engagement reports to the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships and Presidential Strategy and plays a central coordinating role in Institute Advancement’s efforts to secure transformational philanthropic investments of $2.5M and above, including those involving direct engagement with the President. Special Education Teacher
**Retention Bonus $5,000** (paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 90 days and 1/2 at a year)

As a Preschool Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement of classroom instructional plans for preschool students in the Neil Hellman Preschool. You will also support students' success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Preschool Supervising Teacher and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.
- Develop and implement a classroom instructional plan based on a student's IEP and Creative Curriculum Objectives for Development and Learning, creating lessons that are differentiated as to meet the needs of all students.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for students in their classroom. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CPSE meetings as scheduled.
- Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of individual and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; reteach students appropriate behavior strategies.
- Manage, coordinate and model the implementation of Pyramid Model principles and practices in the classroom to build social and emotional competence and to support children through nurturing and responsive relationships and a high-quality environment.
- Coordinate the safety and well- being of students through the use of established classroom and schoolwide processes and procedures; supervise classroom staff in implementing these with their work with students throughout the building.
- Follow school and agency procedures and policies for reporting incidents. This includes behavior incident reports (BIR) and incidents such as child/sexual abuse, substance abuse, harassment, bullying, and violence.
- Establish relationships with parents and family members to create a partnership around student treatment, student behavior, and academic progress.
- Schedule, supervise, and monitor teacher assistants as they assist students in various non-instructional environments (e.g. bus loading/unloading, playground, classroom, washroom, field trips, transportation)
- Lead and attend classroom team meetings, and behavior/treatment meetings and professional training and development sessions or needed (e.g. Pyramid, CPR, emergency procedures and other agency requirements.)
- Provide leadership to assigned teacher aides and assistants in the various clerical and non-instructional duties or needed for your classroom.
- Work with other teachers, clinicians, administrators, medical staff and other school staff to provide integrated support, assistance, and treatment to students.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education or subject area, and ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 3-5.
- Requires NYS certification in Early Childhood Special Education Birth - 2nd grade, or enrollment in a program that leads to NYS teacher certification.

Assistant Bursar
Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular full-time
Supervisor: Controller
Position Purpose: Oversee student billing and collections, manage processing of auxiliary revenue, and provide strong customer service to students, their families and the campus community.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Student Billing and collections:
Assist Assistant Treasurer in processing initial student billing (including housing and dining) in coordination with the Registrar, Financial Aid, Enrollment, and other campus units.
Assist students with payment plans and financing options.
Process changes and adjust student accounts for refunds due to withdrawals and/or waivers for dining and housing.
Monitor student account details for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities; communicate past due accounts to students and their families to ensure that aged transactions are settled in a timely fashion; process late payment fees and registration holds as needed.
Communicate with students and their families via phone, email, mail or in person to investigate and resolve customer queries, inclusive of third party invoicing. Escalate to Assistant Treasurer as needed.
Process student health insurance billing and waivers.
Monitor, update information and record receipts of cash from federal, state and private student loans.
Process and record receipts of cash from external scholarships.
Work with external parties to process ROTC student payments.
Generate weekly revenue reports for the Controller's Office.
Implement policies and procedures for revenue/receivables.
Stay current on financial technology and drive process improvements.
Manage processing of auxiliary revenue:
Collaborate with Bookstore to ensure revenue is properly recorded, processed and maintained in the accounting systems.
Collaborate with different departments on campus to ensure their receipts of payments through credit cards, cash or other systems are processed accurately and recorded in Workday.(Dining, AIS, Athletics, etc.)
Collect, record and process rent revenue.
Additional responsibilities:
Coordinate with external collection agencies and record payments received.
Assist Controller and Assistant Treasurer with ad hoc projects.
Qualifications:
Candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
5 years Bookkeeping/Accounts Receivable experience preferred.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills strongly desired.
Must have strong attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Google Suite and other internet applications.
Ellucian Colleague and Workday experience a plus.
Must be safety conscious and able to work with a diverse group of individuals.
