Operations Manager - Office of Residential Education & Housing
Pay Status and Classification: Non-Exempt, Regular full-time (40 hours per week)
Supervisor: Associate Director for Housing Operations
Position Purpose: Utilizing a team approach, exercising sound judgment, and exemplifying a positive attitude, the Operations Manager manages the day-to-day operations of the Residential Education (ResEd)& Housing Office, including Greek Leadership and Minerva Programs. Serves as the main receptionist and interacts with students, student staff, parents, and other campus constituencies daily. Identifies and articulates student needs and collaborates with appropriate residential staff to provide an effective institutional response. Keeps sensitive information private and confidential. Supports the Associate Director of Housing Operations with all operational tasks associated with the office. Carries out the mission of Union College and the Division of Student Affairs.
This position works on site and primarily in person. Additionally, this position may involve occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Administration: Maintains a neat and orderly office environment, befitting a space used as a student resource center. Publishes and maintains an accurate directory of all ResEd staff. Coordinates and/or initiates calendar scheduling as requested; makes sure meeting attendees know the location or zoom link. Supports and implements logistics for ResEd programs and events (ex. catering, space reservations, set-up/tear down). Supports administrative processes such as move-in/out, residence transition periods, life & safety inspections, and roster verifications. Offers to pitch in to help colleagues during crunch times and overlapping deliverables. Provides administrative assistance (ex. calendar management, event support) to the directors, assistant vice president, and other students affairs administrators when needed or requested.
- Customer Service: Manages day-to-day operations (ex. answering phones, managing centralized emails, scheduling, monitoring work study students) for ResEd & Housing and other offices as needed. Opens and closes the office space in line with established hours. Provides initial consultation to student walk-ins and refers as appropriate. Responds quickly to any parent emails and calls as appropriate. Updates voice/email boxes to reflect hours, any special closings, announcements. Models and encourages an inclusive culture of customer service that respects individuals of any background or identity.
- Student Staff Supervision: Works with a designated supervisor to select, train, and supervise work 3 -15 part time student employees. Accounts for and approves student hours in designated online systems. Creates an office hour schedule and ensures student coverage.
- Project Management: Maintains a secure and accurate key system (ex. auditing, logging, ordering replacements). Connects with facilities and key shop contacts on key related items. Manages campus-wide laundry program, including audits and maintenance reports for entire residential areas. Serves as the primary point of contact for the laundry company and maintenance workers. Creates updates to existing laundry programs to ensure overall student satisfaction and reliability.
- Purchasing Support:Oversees processing payments and reconciliations. Tracks spending trends and recommendations as needed to support the budgetary health of the overall program. Supports purchasing through best practices and preferred vendors. Ensures appropriate inventory of supplies and makes orders as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and/or two to four years of administrative experience, preferably in an educational or related environment, and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to work onsite in an office setting including ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
- Extensive computer skills, such as working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel, Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google docs).

Compensation
The rate for this position is $24.00 - $26.25 per hour. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Job Description:
Information Technology Services (ITS) at the University at Albany seeks applicants for a Central Business Office Associate, who is responsible for coordinating/processing several operational activities in the ITS department. The Central Business Office (CBO) serves as the hub for all ITS finance and operations. The CBO Associate is an essential member of the team and interacts with multiple departments across the university, including Accounting, Asset Management, Facilities, Human Resources, and Purchasing. The successful candidate enjoys a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and getting out of the office to visit various locations on campus for equipment deliveries and receiving/disposal of assets. This entry-level position provides excellent opportunities for professional growth.
The successful candidate is extremely organized, has an eagerness to learn, and a strong attention to detail, with the ability to point out errors or inconsistencies in data. They are encouraged to think about process improvements, leveraging the various tools available. They will conduct their work with a high degree of integrity and a customer service mindset. The CBO Associate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to forge collaborative relationships. They are equally comfortable working with limited supervision or with a team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Software Licensing:
- Review and respond to software license requests from faculty/staff/students.
- Distribute licenses in accordance with University and ITS policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of software purchases, activation codes, distribution/assignment of software licenses, and chargebacks to departments.
Billing:
- Process monthly billing for ITS activities and track receipt of payments.
- Investigate any discrepancies in revenue.
Asset Management:
- Work collaboratively across ITS to ensure accurate asset management needs and processes are fulfilled in a timely matter.
- Ensure all purchases have the appropriate Asset Management forms/tags when received and disposed of.
- Record accurate information in the Asset Management database, including the addition and removal of assets.
Additional/Other Responsibilities:
- Manage relationships with staff from ITS and other departments on campus to facilitate transactions for all Central Business Office activities.
- Serve as a backup for coverage of reception area.
- Perform all operations in compliance with SUNY and New York State financial / procurement policies.
- Handle confidential information and matters in a professional manner.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
- Be available to provide scheduled support and consultation outside normal business hours, including occasional evenings, holidays, or weekends, within reasonable professional obligation and expectation.

Information Technology Services (ITS) at the University at Albany seeks applicants for a Computer Deployment Specialist to support a campus-wide project to replace all non-Windows 11 compatible computers by Fall 2025. This is a large project with a tight timeline. Faculty, staff, conference room, classroom, and research lab computers will be replaced.
The successful candidate will be assigned to the Field Support (FSG) Deployment Group, which will work as a specialized team to deploy all new computers quickly and efficiently. The FSG Deployment Group will support the preparation and deployment/installation of new computers, including installing software, setting up peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.), and removing and securely disposing of old computers. The FSG Deployment Group will deploy computers across three campus locations as appointments and rooms are scheduled with faculty and staff.
This position reports to the FSG Deployment Group Supervisor. The successful candidate must have excellent customer service and communication skills, time management skills, and the ability to work effectively under challenging circumstances. They must also be able to complete work within scheduled time constraints. Working knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft 365 applications is required. The candidate must also be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
The successful candidate must be able to anticipate and support customers with a wide range of technological expertise. This work requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to follow pre-defined processes and workflows to ensure standardization, and the ability to balance both the technical and basic functional expectations of the position.
Primary responsibilities:
As a member of the FSG Deployment Group, follow and assist with pre-defined processes and workflows as assigned, including:
- Activities to support new computer deliveries and maintenance of storage and work areas.
- Configure computers and run OS deployment.
- Accurately update machine and person data in Active Directory and the appropriate inventory, reporting, project, and management tools.
- Prepare computers for daily delivery and deployment to designated offices, classrooms, conference rooms, or designated staging areas.
- Deploy and set up new computers in faculty and staff offices, conference rooms, classrooms, and research labs.
- Install titles from the Software Catalog or Software Portfolio on faculty or staff computers.
- Install peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.)-may require installing drivers or adding to a printer queue.

- Remove old computers by returning them to the designated location and prepare them for secure disposal.

Geosciences Department Technician
Pay Status and Classification: Non-exempt, Regular full-time
Supervisor: Geosciences Chair
Position Purpose: Plays a crucial role in supporting students and faculty in the Geosciences department by assisting with field trips, laboratory exercises, instrument operation and maintenance, and classroom material preparation. This includes managing field equipment, coordinating off-campus activities, operating and maintaining instrumentation (mass spectrometers and chromatographs), managing supplies, and aiding in laboratory setup and sample preparation. Training available for all tasks. Department instrumentation includes a laser ablation inductively coupled mass spectrometer, ion chromatographs, a scanning electron microscope, and an isotope ratio mass spectrometer with peripherals. Department is busy, energetic, and friendly. Flexible hours possible.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Class Field and Lab Support: Coordinates with faculty to prepare/pack required field equipment and/or supplies for field excursions. Assists faculty with setup and breakdown of classroom laboratory specimens/equipment. Communicates with facilities for any repairs and maintenance that are required in geoscience labs or classrooms. Maintains, orders and upgrades field equipment as necessary. Drive field vehicle and assist with activities for selected student exercises.
- Geochemistry Instrumentation Operation and Maintenance: Assists with operating instrumentation (mass spectrometers, chromatographs, titrator, etc.). Prepares samples and standards analysis, assists faculty operating and maintaining instrumentation in both the stable isotope and ICP-MS geochemistry laboratories. Will be trained to operate the Stable Isotope Mass Spectrometer, ICP-MS, Ion Chromatographs, Metrohm auto-titrator, and Picarro CRDS. Maintains online chemical inventory along with safety data sheets and ensures proper use of inventory tracking systems. Performs routine maintenance of instruments (e.g. change oil, clean parts, change gas bottles, arrange for waste disposal). Troubleshoots and repairs instrumentation when possible and/or arrange consultations with appropriate personnel at the college or outside vendors. Maintain inventories of gasses/supplies for all teaching and research labs. Order gasses, and other supplies for the Geosciences Department and distribute to their destinations.
- Laboratory Work: Maintains Geosciences department shop, weather station, and tool area. Makes polished thin-sections and grain mounts for use in lab exercises and research projects. Repairs and maintains rock, mineral, and sediment sample processing equipment. Prepares specimens (mineral boxes, test kits, fossils) for class exercises.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geosciences or related fields. Three years relevant experience, or Masters in Geosciences or related fields preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license to assist faculty with outdoor field exercises, including driving vans.
- Demonstrated understanding of geological principles.
- Excellent organizational and data management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in various field conditions and travel to remote locations.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in geoscientific work.
- Experience with analytical instruments is highly desirable (but training can be provided).
- Skills in thin-section preparation is highly desirable (but training can be provided).

Position Purpose:Manages the Client Services and Learning Environments team, handling both personnel and financial aspects. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business Administration, and a minimum of 5 years of successful management experience in a service-oriented technology environment, and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Proficient in Windows and Apple client hardware and operating systems.
- Proven experience implementing performance metrics for operational analysis and decision-making purposes.

Associate Director for Greek Leadership

Supervisor: Director of Residential Education
Position Purpose: Oversees and directs the operations, vision, and programs for Greek life at Union College by facilitating an environment where members of the Greek community can be challenged and supported in their personal growth, efforts, and experiences. Serves as a trusted advisor to students. Shares responsibility with other Associate Directors for residential student staff processes (such as room selection, recruitment, selection, hiring, training, and ongoing development). - Greek Community Development & Engagement: Creates a vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive environment for Greek organizations. Manages and supervises the activities of and provides guidance to various National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities, North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) fraternities, National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO) organizations as well as local/unaffiliated organizations. Coordinates recruitment/intake and the annual review processes for all student Greek letter organizations. Designs and implements leadership development programs for the Greek community, including programming in the areas of risk management, membership recruitment/intake and education; problem resolution, and community planning.
- Supervision: Supervises the Community Director for Greek Houses. Indirectly supervises Greek house managers and part-time party monitors. Guides and supports the community director and student staff community development efforts, including the implementation of curricular engagement guides and corresponding assessments.
- Student Health and Safety: Monitors and intervenes with students who may be struggling academically and/or with other behavioral and developmental issues. Refers accordingly to services as needed. Participates in regular professional staff on-call rotation, providing crisis intervention and serving as a resource or referral agent. Understands and enforces Code of Student Conduct and other policies regarding behavior, safety, security, health, and other matters in cooperation with the appropriate offices. Serves as a campus judicial hearing officer. Participates in CARE team meetings and provides culturally responsive support to students.
- Collaboration: Builds relationships with alumni, donors, and other stakeholders to advance the Greek Life program and support its mission. Works in collaboration with designated staff in College Relations to interface with fraternity and sorority alumni. Serves as the liaison to national organizations, chapter advisors, and other College departments.
- Administration: Holds regular office hours to address student and staff needs. Manages the budget for the Greek Life department, allocating resources to support programming, events, and operational expenses. Attends campus community events. Qualifications:

Job Summary | The Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks applications for a tenure-track (or tenured) faculty position at the Associate Professor level in Business Analytics/Supply Chain Management starting Fall 2024. Candidates must have a PhD degree from an accredited university in Analytics, Operations Research, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field, along with demonstrated evidence to produce original and innovative scholarly work with publications in premier business journals. The successful candidate will join the School either as a tenure-track assistant professor, or as an associate professor, based on teaching and research experience and success.
