Qualifications | Postdoctoral Research Associate positions require that the candidate have finished all requirements for their PhD at the beginning of their appointment. Additional opportunities as a Research Associate or Research Scientist exist for those with a relevant advanced degree, publication record, and/or significant additional years of paid professional experience in a related position. Individuals who possess these qualifications and who have the potential to, or a demonstrated track record of being able to build collaborative external partnerships are especially desirable. Positions on the Research Specialist track require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. For research support positions, candidates must possess an associate's degree or relevant combination of experience, education and training. | |

Established in 1907, Electrical Engineering at Rensselaer is one of the first in the country. ECSE alumni have contributed to the information and digital revolution by inventing the digital camera, the microprocessor, the graphics processor, power electronics, electronic mail, and more. ECSE awards B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer and Systems Engineering. The Department is highly interdisciplinary, with strong collaborations with other Rensselaer Engineering Departments and in other disciplines such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Cognitive Science. The Department has ~35 faculty, 800 undergraduates, and 120 graduate students. ECSE is one of the seven departments in the School of Engineering, which has approximately 160 faculty, 3000 undergraduates, and 700 graduate students. Founded in 1824, RPI is the oldest technological university in the English-speaking world and will celebrate its bicentennial in 2024. Job Summary | The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering (ECSE) at RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE in Troy, NY invites applications for multiple tenured/tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels. The ECSE department is in a period of multi-year growth. We seek individuals with demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching, combining innovative methods and compelling applications. We welcome candidates with research interests in semiconductor technology, next-generation computing including quantum computing, networking and security, energy and power systems, and robotics and artificial intelligence. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop and maintain a robust and externally sponsored research program, and participate in activities that strengthen the department, the School, Rensselaer, and the broader professional community. New faculty will complement and augment ECSE strengths in AI/ML, microelectronics, computer system design, control, robotics, communication, networking, and power systems. New faculty can also participate in Institute-wide research initiatives, including in Chips (chips.rpi.edu), Data, the Future of Computing Institute, the Institute for Energy, the Built Environment, and Smart Systems, Center for Engineering and Precision Medicine, and centers including Center for Materials, Devices, and Integrated Systems, Center for Future Energy Systems, and Center for Mobility and Vertical Lift. |
