Teacher Aide

Sign On Bonus - $1,500(paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 30 days and 1/2 at a year)

Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - no weekends

As a Teacher Aide, you will assist the classroom teacher in all aspects of behavior management and supporting students success in school. You will work onsite.

Responsibilities:

• Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.
• Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom; record behavior data as requested; assist with crisis prevention; assist with de-escalation techniques with students.
• Help implement behavior plans (BIP); record behavior data; and the completion of incident reports when requested.
• Monitor, supervise and assist students during non-instructional periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, recess/breaks, bus loading/unloading, playground, classroom, washroom, field trips, transportation, assemblies) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Help implement classroom PBIS universal components and Tier 2 and Tier 3 strategies for selected students.
• Attend meetings, training, professional learning sessions (e.g. first aid, TCI, CPR, emergency procedures, behavior management) to enhance professional skills and competencies.
• Perform clerical duties; maintain records of student progress; develop and file incident reports; maintain student files; check daily attendance; make copies; develop classroom displays and instructional material; maintain and operate computers, smartboards and other classroom equipment.
• Collaborate with teacher and other staff to incorporate information provided by parents, doctors, nurses, therapists and others to understand the needs of and provide services for students.
• Always monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the teacher and principal

Requirements and Education:

• High School Diploma required
• Ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21

Pre School Teacher Aide - Substitute

Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 7:30 am - 5:00 pm - no weekends

As a per diem Preschool Teacher Aide - Substitute, you will work with teachers in the management of a preschool classroom by providing quality care to ages 3-5 following Agency philosophy, program performance standards and curriculum guidelines. You will report to the Preschool Supervising Teacher and you will work onsite.

Responsibilities:

• Use daily routines and observations to meet the strengths and needs of children
• Work as a team member to facilitate the programs curriculum, procedures and philosophy.
• Assist in the implementation of weekly program plans.
• Help establish a safe environment and a positive emotional tone that is supportive of the individual childs feelings by interacting with them in a supportive way.
• Maintain a welcoming atmosphere to encourage and facilitate ongoing parent participation and involvement.
• Participate in staff training according to program staff training plan and policies.
• Report any suspected injuries immediately to classroom staff.
• Learn and apply the program curricula to each child.
• Maintain punctuality in all interactions with children, parents, coworkers and volunteers.
• Interact positively with and provide choices to children during meal and nap times.
• Care for program equipment and supplies safely and cost-effectively.
• Assist in classroom cleanup and follow universal precautions daily.
• Assist children in transitioning during day when needed.
• Assist children in safely exiting from Center during fire drills and any hazardous situations.
• Adhere to agency and program standards regarding child and families confidentiality and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

Identifies and responds to potential security threats, suspicious activities, and safety hazards. Monitors access to campus buildings and facilities and ensures that only authorized individuals enter restricted areas. Directs traffic during peak hours, special events, or emergencies, ensuring smooth flow and pedestrian safety.

• Emergency Response: Responds promptly to emergency calls, provides first aid or assistance as needed, and coordinates with other emergency responders when required.

• Crime Prevention: Monitors access points, enforces campus policies, and addresses violations like trespassing, vandalism, and theft. Conducts security checks on buildings and facilities.

• Investigations: Collects evidence, interviews witnesses, and files detailed reports for further action by campus authorities or law enforcement if necessary.

• Safety Training and Awareness: Attends safety workshops, training sessions, and awareness programs related to personal safety, fire safety, and active shooter preparedness.

• Communication: Maintains clear and constant communication with other Campus Safety members, campus staff, and local law enforcement to coordinate responses to incidents effectively.

Qualifications:

• Current New York State Security Guard registration certification required.
