Science/Special Education Teacher
**Sign On Bonus $5,000** (paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 30 days and 1/2 at a year)**
Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - no weekends
As a Science and Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement classroom instructional plans for students and support student success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Assistant Principal and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.
- Provide individualized instruction in the area of Science to High school students in accordance and alignment with New York State curriculum standards and graduation requirements.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
- Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, and the ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21.

The Program in Religious Studies at Union College seeks to make a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of Religion and Science. The appointee is expected to offer courses in religious studies, including in various aspects of religion and science, for the Religious Studies program, and also selected courses in philosophy for the Philosophy Department. It is also expected that the appointee’s teaching will support the General Education program (https://www.union.edu/general-education). There is an expectation that the appointee would support the work of the Templeton Institute at Union (https://www.union.edu/templeton) and take advantage of research and outreach opportunities afforded them there.
Applicants should have strong grounding in science and in religious studies, as well as hold a PhD in religious studies, philosophy, history, STEM, or other relevant field that interconnects science and the academic study of religion. Candidates who are ABD and will complete their degree by September, 2026 are welcome to apply. Demonstrated experience in teaching across science, philosophy and religion is highly valued, as is evidence of building institutional connections between religious studies and science. The Religious Studies program is particularly interested in candidates who work in the area of AI and spirituality. Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Systems and Database Management: Acts as the primary point of contact for user inquiries related to database usage and third-party products. Conducts routine database maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting for technology issues, ensuring optimal system performance. Leads regular reviews of systems and AIS processes to identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements and implement best practices. Manages all aspects of 3rd party relationships, including data integration, transfer protocols, transmission schedules, evaluations, and system troubleshooting.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Develops and disseminates reports and information to College Relations as well as campus partners, ensuring data integrity and compliance with College policies, IRS regulations, and industry best practices. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, information systems and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or 3-5 years work experience preferred.
Detailed knowledge of best practices for advancement operations and development programs is preferred.

We seek socio-cultural candidates whose research addresses and who can teach courses on: environmental anthropology, economic anthropology, science and technology studies, public health, and/or indigeneity. We are especially interested in candidates who can also offer courses on gender and/or religion (particularly Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism) and who could potentially develop an ethnographic field school. In terms of geographic expertise, preference will be given to candidates who work in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, South, East, or Southeast Asia or amongst indigenous people of Oceania or the Americas, but we will also consider other areas not currently represented by faculty in the department. Candidates with Ph.D. in anthropology in hand and teaching experience are preferred, but ABD candidates, as well as candidates in closely related fields are welcome to apply. The successful candidate will teach six courses over three ten-week trimesters.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering welcomes applicants with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and mentoring undergraduates in the field of Civil Engineering. The CEE Department currently possesses expertise in the fields of geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, water quality and hydrology. We are particularly interested in increasing our capacity in the field of Structural Engineering. The new hire will teach courses in the curriculum as appropriate, including core classes and upper-level courses such as the fundamental theory of structure, as well as electives. In addition, there is an expectation that all new hires in the Department will teach at least one course annually to non-engineers ideally as part of the College’s new Complex Questions/Global Challenges and Social Justice common curriculum. The new hire will also be heavily involved in the ABET accreditation process which includes opportunities for curriculum development and assessment.
The successful candidate will also have a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration. The CEE department has a close relationship with the Environmental Science, Policy, and Engineering Program. In addition, consistent with Union’s goal to break new ground with respect to integrating engineering fields with the liberal arts, we welcome applicants who are eager to explore joint programming possibilities with departments and programs in the humanities and social sciences, including with interdisciplinary programs.
All candidates must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering and expertise in the area of structural engineering; applicants close to finishing the Ph.D. will be considered. Successful candidates will demonstrate the potential to advance a research program at Union College that involves undergraduates. Preference will also be given to those who have a demonstrated interest in undergraduate teaching. Successful candidates will detail an interest, understanding, and commitment to the support and development of all students through education, research, and/or service. Professional licensure (P.E) in Civil Engineering is preferred but not required.
About the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department:
Union currently offers ABET-accredited degrees in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering. The department of Civil and Environmental Engineering began offering B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering & Environmental Engineering during the 2023-2024 academic year and is actively working toward ABET accreditation. This project is part of a strategic initiative, supported by a historic gift, to both broaden Union’s engineering offerings and integrate the study of engineering and computer science with the liberal arts, inside and outside of the classroom, to benefit students across the College. The CEE Department will have a footprint within the new Engineering & Computer Science Initiative building opening in Fall of 2027.

We are seeking a candidate whose research area explores the interaction between biological systems and the environment as it relates to epidemiology and/or public health. Potential subjects of study include, but are not limited to: host-vector biology, microbiomes, evolution and transmission of infectious agents, genetic epidemiology, and environmental influences on pathogenesis. Candidates using combinations of field-based, wet-lab, genomics, and/or computational approaches are highly preferred. The Department of Biological Sciences at Union College is committed to teaching and mentoring students in the classroom and in our active research laboratories. We contribute to numerous interdisciplinary programs including Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Science and Policy, Environmental Engineering, and Nanoscience (https://www.union.edu/interdisciplinary-studies). Housed in the newly-constructed Integrated Science and Engineering Complex, the Department is well equipped with NSF-funded instrumentation such as a microCT, a confocal microscope, a 3-D multi camera motion analysis system, Illumina DNA sequencer, scanning electron microscope, greenhouse space, growth chambers, and substantial microscopy, tissue culture and animal care facilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent preparation to teach courses in Colonial and Modern Latin America, including courses that reflect the candidate’s area(s) of specialization, which will contribute to the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program and other relevant interdisciplinary programs (such as Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies, Environmental Science, Policy, & Engineering, and/or Africana Studies) as well as the College’s General Education curriculum. About the History Department:
The History Department at Union College offers undergraduate courses that range from introductory surveys, through more focused topical courses, to advanced seminars. Many of these are writing-intensive courses that contribute to Union’s Writing Across the Curriculum program. All history majors write a senior thesis, a significant independent project directed by a History professor. Faculty teach courses in their respective areas of expertise, including by region, African, American (colonial, nineteenth, and twentieth century), East Asian, European (medieval, early modern, and modern), Latin America, South Asian, as well as topics such as digital history, environmental history, history of gender and identity, history of science and technology, Jewish history, and public history. Position Purpose:The Systems Administrator reports to the Director of Enterprise Systems and is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, operations and security of the enterprise administrative and academic information systems, including physical and virtual server infrastructure, various on-premises and cloud-based applications, endpoint deployment and management platforms, and monitoring and disaster recovery utilities. The position is expected to provide system provisioning and maintenance in a manner that is consistent with College’s goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
System Administration: Manages, maintains, and secures Union’s physical and virtual computing infrastructure and application services. Installs and configures servers, operating systems, and both on-premises and cloud-based applications. Implements security measures to protect institutional data and prevent unauthorized access. Manages user accounts and access rights in accordance with privacy, security, and compliance best practices. Maintains endpoint deployment platforms, automated system jobs, and disaster recovery systems. Assists team members with technical issues and works with vendors to resolve problems and determine equipment requirements.
System Deployment and Maintenance: Supports deployments, upgrades, and migrations to maintain stable and secure environments. Participates in assessing requirements, applying patches, and implementing configuration changes. Assists in evaluating new technologies that enhance system reliability, efficiency, and security.
Security and Compliance: Applies secure system configuration, patching, and access controls to protect institutional infrastructure. Monitors system activity to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. Ensures compliance with institutional policies and supports disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.
Documentation and Continuous Improvement: Develops and maintains operational and procedural documentation related to enterprise systems. Contributes to emergency procedures and identifies opportunities to automate or improve system administration tasks.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Processes service requests and resolves escalated incidents efficiently. Diagnoses and addresses issues affecting hardware, operating systems, and application services. Performs root cause analysis and collaborates with ITS staff and vendors to prevent recurrence and minimize disruption.

Qualifications:

Position description:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering welcomes applicants with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and mentoring undergraduates in the field of Environmental Engineering. The CEE Department currently has expertise in the areas of water quality, soil and sediment remediation, risk assessment, hydrology, sustainable treatment, water and wastewater management, and contaminant fate and transport processes. We are looking to expand and diversify our areas of focus into areas associated with the broad topic of air (e.g., air quality, climate change, atmospheric interactions, air pollution management, environmental change and adaptation, aerosol-climate interactions, wildfire-atmosphere interactions, wind power meteorology, and/or climate engineering). Experience working directly with communities is a plus. The new hire will teach courses in the curriculum as appropriate, including core classes such as Thermofluids, Introduction to Environmental Engineering and/or Contaminant Fate and Transport, as well as the development and teaching of upper level environmental engineering electives in their area of expertise. In addition, there is an expectation that all new hires in the Department will teach at least one course annually to non-engineers ideally as part of the College’s new Complex Questions/Global Challenges and Social Justice common curriculum. The new hire will also be heavily involved in the ABET accreditation process which includes opportunities for curriculum development and assessment.
The successful candidate will also have a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration. The CEE department has a close relationship with the Environmental Science, Policy, and Engineering Program. In addition, consistent with Union’s goal to break new ground with respect to integrating engineering fields with the liberal arts, we also welcome applicants who are eager to explore joint programming possibilities with departments and programs in the humanities and social sciences.
