Established in 1907, Electrical Engineering at Rensselaer is one of the first in the country. ECSE alumni have contributed to the information and digital revolution by inventing the digital camera, the microprocessor, the graphics processor, power electronics, electronic mail, and more. ECSE awards B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer and Systems Engineering. The Department is highly interdisciplinary, with strong collaborations with other Rensselaer Engineering Departments and in other disciplines such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Cognitive Science. The Department has ~35 faculty, 700 undergraduates, and 120 graduate students. Job Summary | The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering (ECSE) at RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE in Troy, NY invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in semiconductor technology, micro/nano-electronics, and next-generation computing. Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, addressing grand challenges in areas such as energy-efficient computing, AI-accelerated hardware, or secure IoT ecosystems. A strong record of innovation—through publications, patents, or translational projects—is highly valued. Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop and maintain a robust and externally sponsored research program, and participate in activities that strengthen the department, the School, Rensselaer, and the broader professional community. New faculty will complement and augment ECSE strengths in AI/ML, microelectronics, computer system design, control, robotics, communication, networking, and power systems. New faculty can also participate in Institute-wide research initiatives, including Semiconductors, AI, Future of Computing, and Precision Medicine, and interdisciplinary centers including Center for Materials, Devices, and Integrated Systems (cMDIS), and Center for Future Energy Systems (CFES). Rensselaer is a one of the five core members of the DoD Common Hub Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH). |

Job Summary | The Network Security Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and oversight for complex, enterprise-wide services including the design, development and maintenance of campus security network infrastructure. The network security engineer is involved in all aspects of network security from detecting, tracking, identifying, collecting evidence & resolving break-ins, virus/worm infections, and campus hacking. In addition, the Network Security Engineer leads complex projects that often include individuals from different departments or portfolios and leadership. This position collaborates closely with other technical and IT leadership positions providing high-level guidance, mentoring and training including helping to develop other technical employees. |
Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor's degree and six (6) years relevant professional work experience including formal training in information technology and network security. |
Preferred Qualifications | Experience supporting Higher Education environment. |
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | • Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, services and attack and defense methods. |
