The cross-disciplinary research leverages a convergence of expertise in materials, advanced manufacturing, and control systems, emphasizing synergistic integration of these fields to derive system-level solutions to complex technological challenges. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering welcomes applicants with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and mentoring undergraduates in the field of Civil Engineering. The CEE Department currently possesses expertise in the fields of geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, water quality and hydrology. We are particularly interested in increasing our capacity in the field of Structural Engineering. The new hire will teach courses in the curriculum as appropriate, including core classes and upper-level courses such as the fundamental theory of structure, as well as electives. In addition, there is an expectation that all new hires in the Department will teach at least one course annually to non-engineers ideally as part of the College’s new Complex Questions/Global Challenges and Social Justice common curriculum. The new hire will also be heavily involved in the ABET accreditation process which includes opportunities for curriculum development and assessment.
The successful candidate will also have a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration. The CEE department has a close relationship with the Environmental Science, Policy, and Engineering Program. In addition, consistent with Union’s goal to break new ground with respect to integrating engineering fields with the liberal arts, we welcome applicants who are eager to explore joint programming possibilities with departments and programs in the humanities and social sciences, including with interdisciplinary programs.
All candidates must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering and expertise in the area of structural engineering; applicants close to finishing the Ph.D. will be considered. Successful candidates will demonstrate the potential to advance a research program at Union College that involves undergraduates. Preference will also be given to those who have a demonstrated interest in undergraduate teaching. Successful candidates will detail an interest, understanding, and commitment to the support and development of all students through education, research, and/or service. Professional licensure (P.E) in Civil Engineering is preferred but not required.
About the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department:
Union currently offers ABET-accredited degrees in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering. The department of Civil and Environmental Engineering began offering B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering & Environmental Engineering during the 2023-2024 academic year and is actively working toward ABET accreditation. This project is part of a strategic initiative, supported by a historic gift, to both broaden Union’s engineering offerings and integrate the study of engineering and computer science with the liberal arts, inside and outside of the classroom, to benefit students across the College. The CEE Department will have a footprint within the new Engineering & Computer Science Initiative building opening in Fall of 2027.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $93,000-96,000. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Job Summary | The Robotic Lab + Woodshop Supervisor (under the direction of the Woodshop Manager), will serve as the director of the school’s Robotic Lab as well as assist in a range of additional day-to-day duties throughout the shop facilities. Provide essential instructional support and technical expertise specific to robotic technology in support of the school’s entire academic and research enterprise. The supervisor will be a champion of integrating advanced manufacturing technologies with critical design-driven workflows. In addition to these specialized responsibilities, the supervisor will also assist in the direction and day-to-day operations of the woodshop and its technology. The supervisor will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating and approving on-going projects and methods proposed by students and faculty; will assist with the purchasing needs of the shop, and work with faculty throughout the year to establish an effective and streamlined interface between the design studios (i.e. pedagogical priorities) and the full-range of technologies offered throughout the shop. |

Job Summary | Endowed Constellation Faculty in Future Chips at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute We are especially interested in candidates who have a demonstrated ability to perform high impact research in semiconductor technology to address the next generation challenges in computing. This position is focused in the area of mechatronics with a specialty in robotics. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) is required; applicants close to finishing their Ph.D. will also be considered. The successful candidate will teach and develop content for a range of undergraduate courses and laboratories in the areas of mechatronics (including basics of electrical circuits), robotics, controls, automation, or mechanical design. Preference will be given to applicants who can lead curricular developments in several of these areas. Compensation:

Northern Rivers has opportunities for Teacher Aides at our Neil Hellman School. - Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, and ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21.
- Requires a NYS certification in Special Education or appropriate subject area.
