Science/Special Education Teacher
**Sign On Bonus $5,000** (paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 30 days and 1/2 at a year)**
Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - no weekends
As a Science and Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement classroom instructional plans for students and support student success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Assistant Principal and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.
- Provide individualized instruction in the area of Science to High school students in accordance and alignment with New York State curriculum standards and graduation requirements.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
- Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, and the ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21.

Head Women’s Flag Football Coach
Pay status and classification: Non-exempt, part-time. This is a 10-month position. (Average of 30 hours per week, 43 weeks per year, 700-800 hours annually).

Collaboration and Fundraising: Partners with campus stakeholders, particularly College Relations, to coordinate fundraising and alumni outreach. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience coaching football, or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience. Master’s degree and playing experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
Experience in leading, motivating and providing guidance to high achieving and competitive student-athletes.
Experience in recruiting and successfully identifying talented prospective student-athletes who can thrive in a rigorous academic environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

We are seeking a candidate whose research area explores the interaction between biological systems and the environment as it relates to epidemiology and/or public health. Potential subjects of study include, but are not limited to: host-vector biology, microbiomes, evolution and transmission of infectious agents, genetic epidemiology, and environmental influences on pathogenesis. Candidates using combinations of field-based, wet-lab, genomics, and/or computational approaches are highly preferred. All candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in a biology or in a related field and preference will be given to those with at least one year of postdoctoral experience in research or teaching. The Department of Biological Sciences at Union College is committed to teaching and mentoring students in the classroom and in our active research laboratories. We contribute to numerous interdisciplinary programs including Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Science and Policy, Environmental Engineering, and Nanoscience (https://www.union.edu/interdisciplinary-studies). The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent preparation to teach courses in Colonial and Modern Latin America, including courses that reflect the candidate’s area(s) of specialization, which will contribute to the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program and other relevant interdisciplinary programs (such as Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies, Environmental Science, Policy, & Engineering, and/or Africana Studies) as well as the College’s General Education curriculum. About the History Department:
The History Department at Union College offers undergraduate courses that range from introductory surveys, through more focused topical courses, to advanced seminars. Many of these are writing-intensive courses that contribute to Union’s Writing Across the Curriculum program. All history majors write a senior thesis, a significant independent project directed by a History professor. Faculty teach courses in their respective areas of expertise, including by region, African, American (colonial, nineteenth, and twentieth century), East Asian, European (medieval, early modern, and modern), Latin America, South Asian, as well as topics such as digital history, environmental history, history of gender and identity, history of science and technology, Jewish history, and public history. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Science or related field and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.
3 years systems management experience in production grade server environments preferred.
Working knowledge of server virtualization technologies (i.e. VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, etc.).
Experience managing Active Directory or other LDAP based services.
Proficiency in task automation scripting technologies (i.e., PowerShell, Unix Shell, etc.).
Experience with Endpoint deployment and management services.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Compensation:
The annual salary range for this position is $78,000-80,000.Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position description:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering welcomes applicants with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and mentoring undergraduates in the field of Environmental Engineering. The CEE Department currently has expertise in the areas of water quality, soil and sediment remediation, risk assessment, hydrology, sustainable treatment, water and wastewater management, and contaminant fate and transport processes. We are looking to expand and diversify our areas of focus into areas associated with the broad topic of air (e.g., air quality, climate change, atmospheric interactions, air pollution management, environmental change and adaptation, aerosol-climate interactions, wildfire-atmosphere interactions, wind power meteorology, and/or climate engineering). Experience working directly with communities is a plus. The new hire will teach courses in the curriculum as appropriate, including core classes such as Thermofluids, Introduction to Environmental Engineering and/or Contaminant Fate and Transport, as well as the development and teaching of upper level environmental engineering electives in their area of expertise. In addition, there is an expectation that all new hires in the Department will teach at least one course annually to non-engineers ideally as part of the College’s new Complex Questions/Global Challenges and Social Justice common curriculum. The new hire will also be heavily involved in the ABET accreditation process which includes opportunities for curriculum development and assessment.
The successful candidate will also have a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration. The CEE department has a close relationship with the Environmental Science, Policy, and Engineering Program. In addition, consistent with Union’s goal to break new ground with respect to integrating engineering fields with the liberal arts, we also welcome applicants who are eager to explore joint programming possibilities with departments and programs in the humanities and social sciences.
All candidates must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related Engineering field; applicants close to finishing their Ph.D. will be considered. Successful candidates will demonstrate the potential to advance a research program at Union College that involves undergraduates. Preference will also be given to those who have a demonstrated interest in undergraduate teaching. Professional licensure (P.E) in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering is preferred but not required.
About the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department:
Union currently offers ABET-accredited degrees in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering. The department of Civil and Environmental Engineering began offering B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering & Environmental Engineering during the 2023-2024 academic year and is actively working toward ABET accreditation. This project is part of a strategic initiative, supported by a historic gift, to both broaden Union’s engineering offerings and integrate the study of engineering and computer science with the liberal arts, inside and outside of the classroom, to benefit students across the College.
