POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Family Support Worker, you will work as part of the Short-term Services Program which was developed as an intensive case-management service to rapidly resolve the concrete and referral needs of families entering the Child Welfare System. By successfully resolving these issues within 90 days of admission, families are at a reduced risk for being referred to Long-term CPS. Services are provided in the office, home, school, and community. You will report to the Coordinator of Short-term Services and will work onsite with community-based travel required.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a full caseload.
- Complete all required trainings, participate in supervision with supervisor and attend required meetings and in-services as directed by supervisor.
- Establish positive and professional relationships with families.
- Model and demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Work with SCDSS case managers to identify service needs of at-risk families.
- Have a thorough knowledge of community services in Schenectady County.
- Help families obtain services they need by making referrals, providing transportation, accompanying them to appointments, assisting with applications (medical, schools, DSS, etc.).
- Maintain good working relationships with DSS/Support Unit caseworkers.
- Complete progress notes or other case record notes promptly.
- Maintain cultural sensitivity, competence and client confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires an Associate’s degree and one to two years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Must have a valid NYS driver’s license.

Director Nursing - Sign-On Bonus & Relocation Assistance Available
As a Nursing Director, you will lead medical services delivery within the division of Residential and Foster Care Services for Northern Rivers. This also includes oversight of nursing services provided in the agency schools and day treatment. Compensation:
The annual salary range for this position is $93,000 to $97,000. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. About the Department of Physics and Astronomy:
We have eleven full-time faculty in the Department of Physics and Astronomy (www.physics.union.edu) working in a variety of research fields including astrophysics, atomic physics, computational biophysics, environmental physics, geophysics, and nuclear and particle physics.
The Department is housed primarily in the Integrated Science and Engineering Center (ISEC), a state-of-the-art facility with classrooms, offices, and research facilities including purpose-built teaching labs and seminar rooms, a dedicated optics lab and our 1.1MeV particle accelerator.
We have access to a wide range of shared instrumentation in ISEC and the connected Peter Irving Wold Center and F. W. Olin Center; the latter houses the Interdisciplinary Research Instrumentation Suite, which includes a Zeiss EVO Variable Pressure Scanning Electron Microscope with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy and Chemiluminescence, an Asylum MFP-3D-SA atomic force microscope, a Powder X-Ray Diffractometer, a Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometer, Bruker RAMAN Spectrometer, and a Nikon Ti-E microscope.
The department also has several high temperature tube furnaces for sample synthesis, as well as low speed saws and polishing equipment for sample preparation.
The department maintains a machine shop with CNC machines and 3-D printers for use by faculty and students, staffed by a full-time technician. We also have access to additional fabrication resources through the college’s MakerSpace and engineering machine shop.

As a Clinician in the Families Work program, you will maintain a caseload of five families and meet with each weekly. The Department of Biological Sciences at Union College is committed to teaching and mentoring students in the classroom and in our active research laboratories. As a Peer Advocate, you will be an ally, mentor, and advocate for clients and families as they contend with the difficulties and uncertainties of mental illness. You will use lived experience to contribute to treatment planning for each participant, and facilitating the team’s development and maintenance of a culture of respect. The Youth Assertive Community Treatment team (ACT) Program is an innovative treatment program. The program serves children with mental illness or serious emotional disturbance and their families. You will report to the Director of Youth Act and work onsite with community-based travel required.
This new employee will be hired under the Youth Peer Advocate title or Family Peer Advocate title. The requirements are as follows:
Youth Peer Advocate:
- As this is a Youth Peer position, grant funding requires that employees hired in this capacity are within 18-30 years of age and have lived experiencewith mental illness or serious emotional disturbance.
- The FPA must possess a credential recognized by the Office of Mental Health and receive specialized training and supervision.
Family Peer Advocate:

Description
Special Education Teacher
**Sign On Bonus $5,000** (paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 30 days and 1/2 at a year)
As a Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement classroom instructional plans for students and support students success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Assistant Principle and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.
- Develop and implement a classroom instructional plan based on a students IEP and grade and subject area curricula; work with content area teachers to ensure that their lessons are differentiated as to meet the needs of all students.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
- Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, and ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21. General education certification with enrollment in a program that leads to special education certification may be considered.
- Requires that you acquire a NYS certification in Special Education or appropriate subject area, or enrollment in a program that leads to NYS teacher certification within one year of hire
