Job Summary | The Academic Advisor for Student Athletes will serve as a central resource for all student-athletes at Rensselaer, regardless of major or school. The Advisor will advise and counsel Rensselaer student-athletes on academic course requirements, course selection, and prerequisite courses to meet eligibility requirements and optimize success for competition in the NCAA. The advisor will serve as a resource for the Faculty Athletic Representative and the Advising and Learning Assistance Center (ALAC) and will monitor student-athletes on probation. The athletic advisor will set up tutoring sessions within ECAV open to all students and study halls for student-athletes in partnership with the athletic coaching staff. |

Description
As a Peer Advocate, you will be an ally, mentor, and advocate for clients and families as they contend with the difficulties and uncertainties of mental illness. You will use lived experience to contribute to treatment planning for each participant, and facilitating the team’s development and maintenance of a culture of respect. The Youth Assertive Community Treatment team (ACT) Program is an innovative treatment program. The program serves children with mental illness or serious emotional disturbance and their families. You will report to the Director of Youth Act and work onsite with community-based travel required.
This new employee will be hired under the Youth Peer Advocate title or Family Peer Advocate title. The requirements are as follows:
Youth Peer Advocate:
- As this is a Youth Peer position, grant funding requires that employees hired in this capacity are within 18-30 years of age and have lived experiencewith mental illness or serious emotional disturbance.
- The FPA must possess a credential recognized by the Office of Mental Health and receive specialized training and supervision.
Family Peer Advocate:
- Family Peer Advocates (FPA) are parents or caregivers who are raising or have raised a child with serious mental health concerns and are personally familiar with the associated challenges and available community resources for children and families.
- The YPA must possess (or obtain within the first twelve months of employment,) a credential recognized by the Office of Mental Health and receive specialized training and supervision.
Peer Advocate Responsibilities:
• Engage individuals and establish trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goals clients identify on their treatment plans
• Contribute to client treatment plans, advocating for clients' needs
• Participate in daily treatment team meetings and work directly with other team members to provide support and assistance to program participants.
• Provide individual face-to-face support to youth and families receiving services
• Spend 70% or more of scheduled work hours in community settings
• Meet with family, youth, and collateral contacts to provide psychoeducation about serious mental illness
• Be a role model, educate recipients about self-help techniques and self-help group processes, teach effective coping strategies based on personal experience, teach symptom management skills, assist in clarifying rehabilitation and recovery goals, and assist in the development of community support systems and networks.
Requirements and Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, Associates Degree preferred
- A valid New York State driver’s license and must have access to a reliable, insured vehicle and be willing to transport clients in the community if needed.
- Complete and obtain the NYCPS-Provisional certification for review by the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB) within the agreed-upon time of start date.

Supervisor:Director of the Academic Opportunity Program / Higher Education Opportunity Program.
Position Purpose: Provides clerical, administrative and project support to the Academic Opportunity Program / Higher Education Opportunity Program. Duties include purchasing and supply ordering; maintaining shared records; assisting with coordination of the AOP Summer Program; coordinating event logistics; and serving as receptionist for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Office Support: Provides support for office associated activities: managing files in shared Google drive; screening and handling telephone communications; maintaining office equipment (student computers, copiers, telephones); ordering and organizing necessary office supplies; greeting and directing visitors; managing and creating content for department website / social media sites. Serves as a primary point of direct administrative contact and liaison with other offices, individuals, and external institutions and agencies on a range of issues. Supervises, trains and hires student employees.
- Administration: Manages purchasing for the office, including ordering supplies; processing credit card purchases and expense reports; processing payment requests and departmental fund transfers. Organizes, processes and analyzes department data, including assisting with entering data into reports, and preparing rosters in spreadsheets. Assists administrative colleagues with other College assignments as needed and during crunch times and overlapping deliverables.
- Event & Travel Coordination: Manages all office logistics regarding events, banquets, and workshops under the general supervision of the Director of AOP/HEOP (i.e. makes campus contacts with room reservations, dining services, instructional technology or any other campus contact necessary for organizing events). Assists with coordinating travel for AOP/HEOP students, including purchasing tickets for flights, trains, and buses, as well as coordinating transportation services through Union’s transportation office.
- AOP Summer Program: In conjunction with other AOP staff, assist with coordination of the AOP Summer Program.
Qualifications:
High school degree or equivalent and two to three years of administrative experience, preferably in an academic setting, or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and work experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment carrying out administrative duties.
Extensive computer skills, such as working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel, Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google docs).
Ability to use and learn new software quickly.
Familiarity with web content management systems.
Ability to work onsite in an office setting including ability to stand and sit for extended periods.

Compensation:
The rate for this position is $18.50 per hour. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. As an Agricultural Sciences Teacher, you will instruct and supervise students in horticulture, plant sciences, landscaping, and floral design.As part of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, you will work with the Greenhouse Coordinator to provide work-based learning experiences with labs and project-based learning activities to enhance learning opportunities for students with diverse needs.You will collaborate in the curriculum development, program details, preparation of materials, and details of planning and implementation as The Neil Hellman School (NHS) applies for initial CTE. You will report to the Work Based Learning Coordinator and work onsite in the Bella Greenhouse & Educational Center and outdoors among our acres of land.
Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement instructional materials to provide individual and small group instruction to students of various ability levels, grades K-12.
- Utilize various teaching methodologies and technologies to address diverse learning styles and needs.
- Manage classroom, greenhouse, mechanical equipment, supplies, and facilities.
- Serve as a liaison between NHS and the broader agricultural community.
- Help students receive industry certifications.
- Participate on the CTE Advisory Board.

Union College is a member of NCAA Division III and the Liberty League. Union College sponsors 26 intercollegiate sports, 24 in Division III, with Ice Hockey competing at Division I. The successful candidate will oversee and implement a comprehensive athletics compliance program to ensure compliance with all applicable NCAA, ECAC, Liberty League and College rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Job Summary | The Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position starting Fall 2025, at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, from scholars who work in areas at the cutting edge of finance, quantitative finance, financial economics, and/or financial analytics, as they pertain to the digital transformation of the financial services industry. Job Summary | The Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the field of Quantum Computing, Quantum Information, and Quantum Technology, with focus on the fundamental aspects or applications of quantum computation, scalability, and error correction on current and future quantum computing devices. Research areas can include but not limited to quantum entanglement, decoherence, and noise in quantum networks, with applications to quantum cryptography, quantum encryption, and secure quantum communications in noisy environments. Possible related areas would also include studying and exploiting the fundamental connections between Quantum Monte Carlo and Quantum Computing, simulating quantum field theory and many-body theory with a quantum computer (in particular, simulating systems with a “sign” problem), quantum communication networks, exotic quantum dynamics, quantum sensing protocols, exotic quantum phases of matter, and theory on the nature of information at the quantum level. With the anticipated of arrival of the IBM Quantum System One on our campus, this hire will have access to explore and implement some of these challenging problems. This hire would be part of a bold effort at RPI to strengthen and extend our current faculty cluster in Quantum Information, and would interact with our current faculty on quantum optics and photon entanglement, quantum field-theory, quantum fluctuations in networks, as well as with researchers from Computer Science, ECSE, Future of Computing Institute, and with the future hires of the recently announced Quantum Constellation. The position also represents a response to federal priorities expressed in the National Quantum Initiative Act. We seek a vertebrate physiologist studying whole organism, non-human systems who uses laboratory and/or field-based research techniques. Representative areas of interest could include (but are not limited to) evolution, genetics, behavior, development, metabolism, neuroethology, or mechanisms of physiological adaptation. About the Biology Department:
The Department of Biological Sciences at Union College is committed to teaching and mentoring students in the classroom and in our active research laboratories. The Department contributes to numerous interdisciplinary programs including Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Science and Policy, Environmental Engineering, and Nanoscience (see our programs at https://www.union.edu/interdisciplinary-studies). Housed in the newly constructed Integrated Science and Engineering Complex, the Department is well equipped with NSF-funded instrumentation such as a microCT, a confocal microscope, a 3-D multi camera motion analysis system, Illumina DNA sequencer, scanning electron microscope, greenhouse space, and substantial microscopy, tissue culture and animal care facilities. We also have access to a continuous flow isotope mass spectrometer, elemental analyzer, and an ICPMS in Union College’s Stable Isotope and Geochemistry Laboratory. Position description:
A Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field is required and postdoctoral experience is highly preferred. Successful candidates will have the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and research and should be committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community.
Teaching responsibilities will be in introductory and organic chemistry courses and labs, with additional teaching responsibilities depending on area(s) of expertise. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the College’s interdisciplinary programs. The College has new and growing initiatives in environmental science and engineering and biomedical engineering; candidates contributing to one of these areas through work in Green Chemistry, Environmental Organic Chemistry, or Polymer Chemistry are especially welcome. About the Department of Chemistry:
The new hire will expand our department from twelve to thirteen permanent faculty members with support from one administrative assistant and one laboratory specialist. One faculty member also serves as the department’s dedicated instrumentation specialist. Annually, about 15-25 students graduate with a degree in chemistry or biochemistry, and about 11% of the students on campus take introductory chemistry courses. Our department has a strong collegial culture; we collaborate to continue to innovate and improve our approaches to teaching and scholarship in an undergraduate liberal arts with engineering setting. We have offices and research spaces in several science and engineering buildings, the most recent of which – the Integrated Science and Engineering Center – completed in 2020. A research specialization in the area of condensed matter physics (including but not limited to: solid-state physics, materials science, semiconductor physics, device physics, soft matter physics, granular materials, active matter, polymer physics, magnetic materials, superconductors and superfluids, nanoscience, quantum materials and quantum information processing), preferably with an experimental component.

About the Department of Physics and Astronomy:
We have eleven full-time faculty in the Department of Physics and Astronomy (www.physics.union.edu) working in a variety of research fields including astrophysics, atomic physics, computational biophysics, environmental physics, geophysics, and nuclear and particle physics.
The Department is housed primarily in the Integrated Science and Engineering Center (ISEC), a state-of-the-art facility with classrooms, offices, and research facilities including purpose-built teaching labs and seminar rooms, a dedicated optics lab and our 1.1MeV particle accelerator.
We have access to a wide range of shared instrumentation in ISEC and the connected Peter Irving Wold Center and F. W. Olin Center; the latter houses the Interdisciplinary Research Instrumentation Suite, which includes a Zeiss EVO Variable Pressure Scanning Electron Microscope with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy and Chemiluminescence, an Asylum MFP-3D-SA atomic force microscope, a Powder X-Ray Diffractometer, a Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometer, Bruker RAMAN Spectrometer, and a Nikon Ti-E microscope.
The department also has several high temperature tube furnaces for sample synthesis, as well as low speed saws and polishing equipment for sample preparation.
The department maintains a machine shop with CNC machines and 3-D printers for use by faculty and students, staffed by a full-time technician. We also have access to additional fabrication resources through the college’s MakerSpace and engineering machine shop.

Position description:
The Department of Psychology at Union College, Schenectady, New York, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in Neuroscience. We encourage applications from individuals with identities historically underrepresented in the sciences. Ability to teach, advise, and mentor a diverse population of undergraduates is essential. Area of research specialization is less important than research that is programmatic and theoretically directed toward understanding the human brain. Areas of research that would complement our existing department include any using neuroscientific and/or computational neuroscientific approaches to study: sensation and perception; cognition broadly; memory; complex cognition; diversity; culture; social/emotional cognition; judgment and decision making; and/or neuroeconomics.
Ideally, our new colleague will offer courses at a variety of levels including including a combination of at least some of the following: introductory psychology, statistics, introductory neuroscience, lab courses in cognitive neuroscience and/or sensation and perception, as well as an upper-level neuroscience seminar within the applicant’s domain. We also welcome a colleague with the ability to provide a psychological or neuroscientific perspective on topics that contribute to the College's general education curriculum, including courses that contribute to students' understanding of and appreciation for Global Challenges and Justice, Equity, Identity, and Difference.
We expect that our new colleague will establish and maintain a vibrant research program that involves our undergraduate students. PhD by appointment date preferred. Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $81,500 to $83,500. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Mechanical Engineering

Union College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Mechanical Engineering. The starting date for the position can begin as early as 1 January 2025 but will begin no later than 1 September 2025. Position Description
This position is broadly in solid mechanics with a focus in the areas of advanced manufacturing and/or applied robotics in manufacturing. Other emerging areas of solid mechanics may be considered. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) is required, but applicants close to finishing their Ph.D. will also be considered. We strongly encourage applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented in the field. Increasing diversity on campus is a key objective of this hire and a top priority for Union, one that is integral to our mission of preparing students for a globally interconnected world.
The successful candidate would teach and develop content for a range of undergraduate courses and laboratories in the areas of solid mechanics, mechanical design, mechanisms and machines, controls and manufacturing. Preference will be given to applicants who can teach in several of these areas. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and conducting high quality, peer reviewed and published research are requirements for success in the position. Union College has a strong record in undergraduate research, and candidates will be expected to pursue an active program of scholarly research involving undergraduate students. About the Department of Mechanical Engineering
We are a nationally ranked mechanical engineering program whose curriculum emphasizes close student-faculty interactions in small class settings, hands on laboratory experiences and team based design and build projects at every class level. We are home to successful cross disciplinary Aero and Baja student competition teams who regularly place higher than much larger schools. Our faculty are true teacher-scholars who obtain competitive grants, publish in high impact journals, present at international conferences and involve undergraduate students in our research at the deepest levels.
