Job Summary | The Academic Advisor for Student Athletes will serve as a central resource for all student-athletes at Rensselaer, regardless of major or school. The Advisor will advise and counsel Rensselaer student-athletes on academic course requirements, course selection, and prerequisite courses to meet eligibility requirements and optimize success for competition in the NCAA. The advisor will serve as a resource for the Faculty Athletic Representative and the Advising and Learning Assistance Center (ALAC) and will monitor student-athletes on probation. The athletic advisor will set up tutoring sessions within ECAV open to all students and study halls for student-athletes in partnership with the athletic coaching staff. |

Job Summary | The Director, Student Activities develops and directs comprehensive student involvement and activities programs that inspire school spirit, amplify the RPI student experience, and support the unique student-staff partnership that characterizes the operation of the Rensselaer Union. This includes employing best practices in facilitating student's personal and professional development, creating opportunities for developmental growth, strengthening student clubs (including student government and class councils), and contributing to student recruitment and retention in support of the enrollment, graduation, and student success of both undergraduate and graduate students. Position Purpose:Oversees and manages all aspects of the diving program for both the men’s and women’s diving teams at Union College in accordance with all rules and regulations set for by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Liberty League, and Union College. Responsibilities include but are not limited to scheduling and conducting practice sessions, preparing and managing a training plan, recruiting student-athletes and supporting the academic progress of our student-athletes.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Coaching and Training:Leads all workouts for divers, and is committed to mentoring and developing a group with wide ranging abilities and experience. Schedules and conducts practice sessions. Implements strategies for student-athletes to perform.
- Recruitment: Identifies, evaluates, and recruits prospective student-athletes who align with the college’s values and academic standards, in close consultation with the head coach of swimming & diving. Develops and maintains relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and prospective student-athletes.
- Administration:Assists in home and away meet preparation. Develops and executes a season training plan for boards and dryland. Present for recruiting weekends and team activities.
- Team Development and Innovation: Contributes ideas, input, and support to Union Athletics initiatives, decisions, communications, and other activities.. Seeks out, applies, and shares knowledge of new coaching trends and innovations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of experience coaching club high school or collegiate diving and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience. Master’s degree and diving at the collegiate level is preferred.
- Proficient in using trampoline and spotting rig for dive training.
- Skilled in teaching new dives and evaluating diving techniques.
- Experience in judging diving competitions, including dual meets and championship events.
- Experience in leading, motivating and providing guidance to high achieving and competitive student-athletes.
- Experience in recruiting and successfully identifying talented prospective student-athletes who can thrive in a rigorous academic environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to travel with the team, and work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends is required.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 30 lbs.) and stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.

Job Summary | As the Workforce Development Coordinator for the NORDTECH Hub, you will be responsible for coordinating and developing workforce development activities within the NORDTECH community and the broader Capital and Upstate New York regions. Your role will involve working with NORDTECH members from industry, academia, and government. You will be the primary point of contact for universities, semiconductor manufacturing companies, government agencies, research laboratories, and other industry partners, and will be collaborating to develop strategic plans and best practices for securing additional external funding for education and workforce development initiatives.
