Teacher Aide
Sign On Bonus - $1,500(paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 30 days and 1/2 at a year) (full time only qualifies)

Northern Rivers has opportunities for Teacher Aides at our Neil Hellman School. The school serves residential and day students with serious emotional, behavioral and learning challenges, and our team members provide the therapeutic, educational and vocational services they need to empower our students to reach their maximum potential to ensure student success.
For some of these children, coming to school allows them to be in a place where they are cared for and allowed to just be kids, and to reach their educational goals without the stress of food insecurity or housing availability.
As a Teacher Aide, you see the progress a child in your classroom is making as each week advances, giving you a sense of accomplishment knowing that you make a difference in each child’s life.
Teacher Aides assist the classroom teacher in all aspects of behavior management and supporting students' success in school. You will work onsite at our Albany campus, and follow the school calendar, which includes a six-week summer school beginning in July.
This position is the perfect opportunity for someone interested in working with children in a teaching setting, but without the educational criteria of a teacher.
Responsibilities:
Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom; record behavior data as requested; assist with crisis prevention; assist with de-escalation techniques with students.
Help implement behavior plans (BIP); record behavior data; and the completion of incident reports when requested.
Monitor, supervise and assist students during non-instructional periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, recess/breaks, bus loading/unloading, playground, classroom, washroom, field trips, transportation, assemblies) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Help implement classroom PBIS universal components and Tier 2 and Tier 3 strategies for selected students.
Collaborate with teachers and other staff to incorporate information provided by parents, doctors, nurses, therapists and others to understand the needs of and provide services for students.
Always monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers.
Perform clerical duties; maintain records of student progress; develop and file incident reports; maintain student files; check daily attendance; make copies; develop classroom displays and instructional material; maintain and operate computers, smartboards and other classroom equipment.
Attend meetings, training, professional learning sessions (e.g. first aid, TCI, CPR, emergency procedures, behavior management) to enhance professional skills and competencies.
Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the teacher and principal

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Systems and Database Management: Acts as the primary point of contact for user inquiries related to database usage and third-party products. Conducts routine database maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting for technology issues, ensuring optimal system performance. Leads regular reviews of systems and AIS processes to identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements and implement best practices. Participates in execution of College Relations events and contributes to campus initiatives and priorities as opportunities arise.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, information systems and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or 3-5 years work experience preferred.
Detailed knowledge of best practices for advancement operations and development programs is preferred.
Previous experience working in higher education is preferred.
Flexible in the face of challenges and able to advocate for change.
Experience in supervising teams or departments, with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve objectives efficiently and effectively.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $61,000-$70,000. We seek socio-cultural candidates whose research addresses and who can teach courses on: environmental anthropology, economic anthropology, science and technology studies, public health, and/or indigeneity. We are especially interested in candidates who can also offer courses on gender and/or religion (particularly Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism) and who could potentially develop an ethnographic field school. In terms of geographic expertise, preference will be given to candidates who work in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, South, East, or Southeast Asia or amongst indigenous people of Oceania or the Americas, but we will also consider other areas not currently represented by faculty in the department. Candidates with Ph.D. in anthropology in hand and teaching experience are preferred, but ABD candidates, as well as candidates in closely related fields are welcome to apply. The successful candidate will teach six courses over three ten-week trimesters.
About the Anthropology Department:
The Department prides itself on strong teaching and on building relationships with students. Department members are all active scholars who support each other’s scholarship and who value the integration of research and teaching. The department has a long tradition of field schools (currently running in Fiji and India) where students do hands-on research. Anthropology at Union contributes to many interdisciplinary programs and to the Complex Questions general education curriculum that focuses on global challenges and on social justice. English/Special Education Teacher

As an English and Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement classroom instructional plans for students and support student success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Assistant Principal and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.
- Provide individualized instruction in English to high school students in accordance with New York State curriculum standards and graduation requirements.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
- Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.

Position description:
The Department of Psychology at Union College, Schenectady, New York, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in Neuroscience. Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field is required; degree in hand by appointment date is preferable. Area of research specialization is less important than research that is programmatic and theoretically directed toward understanding the human brain. Areas of research that would complement our existing department include any using neuroscientific and/or computational neuroscientific approaches to study: sensation and perception; cognition broadly; memory; complex cognition; diversity; culture; social/emotional cognition; judgment and decision making; and/or neuroeconomics. Our new colleague will offer 2 courses per trimester at a variety of levels, including a combination of some of the following: introductory psychology, statistics, introductory neuroscience, lab courses in cognitive neuroscience and/or sensation and perception, as well as an upper-level neuroscience seminar within the applicant’s domain, and/or other courses that could contribute to Union’s College’s interdisciplinary Neuroscience major.
We also welcome a colleague with the ability to provide a psychological or neuroscientific perspective on topics that contribute to the College's general education curriculum, including courses that contribute to students' understanding of and appreciation for Global Challenges and Justice, Equity, Identity, and Difference.
We expect that our new colleague will establish and maintain a vibrant Neuroscience research program that involves our undergraduate students. The College and department provide outstanding research support, including generous startup funds, pre- and post-tenure sabbaticals, and ongoing internal funding opportunities for both faculty and student research. Shared departmental resources include brand-new EEG and eye-tracking equipment that allow for simultaneous data acquisition. The College also maintains an active Faculty Development Institute that provides mentorship and various other forms of support towards growing faculty teaching, scholarship, and leadership.
About the Psychology Department:
The Psychology department consists of 14 accomplished scholars at various career stages, with diverse research expertise. We teach small courses and work closely with students, who are active in our research laboratories. We have ample research facilities, institutional support for student research, and host a vibrant speaker series that supports research collaborations. The department recognizes the rich possibilities of interdisciplinary studies and currently provides support for the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies and Neuroscience programs.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $81,500- 83,500. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Special Education Teacher
**Sign On Bonus $5,000** (paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 30 days and 1/2 at a year)
Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - no weekends
As a Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement classroom instructional plans for students and support students success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Assistant Principle and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.
- Develop and implement a classroom instructional plan based on a students IEP and grade and subject area curricula; work with content area teachers to ensure that their lessons are differentiated as to meet the needs of all students.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
- Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
Requirements and Education:
• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, and ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21. General education certification with enrollment in a program that leads to special education certification may be considered.
