POSITION OFFERED: Accounting Faculty

Renewable, Full-Time, 10-months

JOB DESCRIPTION: Tompkins Cortland Community College seeks a dynamic and engaging full-time tenure track faculty member with a focus on student success and retention. Position includes 15 credits per semester in Accounting courses in our Accounting AAS and Accounting AS programs. This may involve teaching students in first and second-level accounting courses including Financial, Intermediate, Cost, Managerial, and Income Taxation. Teaching may involve face-to-face, remote, day, evening, online, hybrid and HyFlex courses. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to maintain, develop, and update course curricula and work on and possibly lead initiatives for future development. Other activities will include student advising, serving on college committees, holding office hours, and outcomes assessment. This position is within the Faculty Association Union. Candidates must currently reside or be willing to relocate to New York State at time of employment. Additionally, maintaining New York State residency will be required for the duration of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Accounting and a CPA with teaching experience.  

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience at a community college and advising of college-level students. Ability to integrate modern instructional technology into classes and to create a student-centered and active learning environment. This position requires the ability to work supportively in a culturally diverse environment of students, faculty, staff, and the community. Candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to working with multi-lingual learners and historically under-served students and/or communities through teaching, mentoring, or administration are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates with a demonstrated ability to incorporate an intersectional framework into teaching and student engagement are encouraged to identify those experiences in the application materials.  

EXPECTED HIRING SALARY RANGE:  $51,233-$76,853  Salary subject to change pending outcome of Faculty Association negotiations. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a College employee, this appointment includes NYS retirement benefit options with a choice of a pension or generous matches to 414H, attractive Health Care options with 80% of premiums covered by the College, post-retirement health insurance and supportive work-life balance with holidays and sick days along with tuition assistance and ability of application to Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) in addition to other benefits offered by the College. Courses will include introductory sociology and cultural anthropology and the opportunity to teach and develop additional courses that address stratification and inequality and/or a global perspective. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to maintain, develop, and update course curricula and work on and possibly lead initiatives for future development. Other activities will include student advising, serving on college committees, holding office hours, and outcomes assessment. This position is within the Faculty Association Union. Candidates must currently reside or be willing to relocate to New York State at time of employment. Additionally, maintaining New York State residency will be required for the duration of employment.
