Wellness Associate

SUMMARY:

\r\n

This position works under the direct supervision of the Wellness Manager to assist in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of the Wellness Program for the residents of Vista/Mission Ridge.

\r\n

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

\r\n

Resident Responsibilities

\r\n
    \r\n
  • Creates, enhances, and maintains a culture of health, fitness, and overall wellness.
  • \r\n
  • Ability to perform preliminary assessments for residents, staff, and community wellness participants.
  • \r\n
  • Maintains and improves wellness with innovation in order to avoid resident participation burnout.
  • \r\n
  • Maintains professional certifications and perpetuates personal professional growth.
  • \r\n
  • Participates in resident Wellness Team meetings.
  • \r\n
  • Assists Wellness Manager and Coordinator in developing policies/procedures, standards, and qualifications for wellness classes and activities.
  • \r\n
  • Assists Wellness Manager and Coordinator in developing and maintaining outreach with community, staff, and churches.
  • \r\n
  • Participates in and cultivates community relationships and outreach events such as health fairs and education presentations.
  • \r\n
  • Contributes to developing and maintaining resident participation and engagement.
  • \r\n
  • Remains constantly aware of potential safety issues and follows up with Wellness Manager/Coordinator as appropriate.
  • \r\n
  • Portrays an energetic, upbeat, vibrant attitude to enhance resident motivation and participation.
  • \r\n
  • Has a strong understanding of the Seven Dimensions of Wellness and strives to incorporate these in Wellness planning.
  • \r\n
  • Works cooperatively with Wellness Manager/Coordinator developing a monthly activity calendar and daily communicator for residents.
  • \r\n
  • Coordinate and transport residents via campus vehicles for off-campus activities.
  • \r\n

Communication

  • Completes necessary documentation.
  • \r\n
  • Has daily contact with residents, staff members, volunteers and resident family members and guests.
  • \r\n
  • Maintains relations between community members, visitors and guests of residents and vendors.
  • \r\n
\r\n

Safety

  • Obeys safety rules of St. John’s United
  • \r\n
  • Attends mandatory safety in-services
  • \r\n
  • Keeps activity area and storage areas clean and orderly
  • \r\n
\r\n

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Wellness Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

\r\n

Minimum Requirements:

\r\n

Knowledge and skills acquired through completion of high school. Experience and/or the willingness to be trained in instructing and coordination wellness activities such as; group fitness class, health education programming, and arthritis programs.

\r\n

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

\r\n
    \r\n
  • Must be knowledgeable about community resources, community events and other opportunities that will make the wellness program interesting and challenging to residents.
  • \r\n
  • Ability to assist in developing, planning and coordinating activity programs along with the Wellness Manager and Coordinator.
  • \r\n
  • Ability to work under time deadlines, manage time efficiently and work effectively with a variety of staff members, residents and other personnel
  • \r\n
  • Must be self motivated and have the ability to perform multiple simultaneously.
  • \r\n
