Bistro and Hospitality Coordinator

SUMMARY:

\n

Prepares and service food items, specialty coffee and other beverages with exceptional customer service to the residents, staff, family members and guests at St. John’s United. Supervises, trains, schedules and directs staff and provides greeter functions for organization for Mission Ridge entrance on weekdays and solely on weekends.

  • Related Responsibilities
      \n
    • Creates, maintains, and changes Bistro menu selections and coordinates procurement and/or production of products from Bistro staff, Sodexo, and other vendors.
    • \n
    • Oversees future bar functions and coordination of drink service to guests in dining room.
    • \n
    • Sets procedures, trains, and provides quality check for alcohol handling and distribution.
    • \n
    • Manages store inventory, stocking, and purchasing process.
    • \n
    • Oversees the use of and training for Point of Sale system.
    • \n
    • Coordinates transitions and cross training of Common Grounds functions and Bistro services working closely with Common Grounds Coordinator.
    • \n
    • Greets guests and customers, take orders, mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees or teas
    • \n
    • Works to maintain exceptional customer relations and timely delivery of all orders
    • \n
    • Stock and maintain inventories of products or organizational resources
    • \n
    • Tracks and records inventory, consumer and retail sales
    • \n
    • Resolve customer complaints or problems
    • \n
    • Manage and process customer payments with accuracy
    • \n
    • Ensure schedule coverage
    • \n
    • Ensure that sanitation levels are at an acceptable level and all food is being handled and prepared safely according to HACCP guidelines.
    • \n
    • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, or other performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement and to identify areas needing cost reduction.
    • \n
    • Direct and coordinate activities concerned with the production, pricing, sales, or distribution of products.
    • \n
    • Monitor vendors to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods or services within budgetary limits.
    • \n
    • Manage profit and loss within a budget to create sustainability.
    • \n

    • Greets all guests and residents

    • Assists guests with way finding and basic organization information.

  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Staffing Responsibilities
      \n
    • Assists with the recruiting, engaging, interviewing, screening, and placing of staff.
    • \n
    • Supervises day-to-day work activities of staff by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards.
    • \n
    • Trains new staff and identifies and trains shift leaders to assist in the possible use of volunteers.
    • \n
    • Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to volunteers in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate.
    • \n
    • Generates and maintains staff schedule.
    • \n
    • Utilizes software to schedule, track, and communicate with staff.
    • \n
    • Participates in annual staff and volunteer recognition events and provides ongoing recognition.

    • Maintains clean work areas, utensils, and equipment

    • Practices appropriate knife and equipment safety at all times
    • \n
    • Performs daily and weekly cleaning duties as assigned

    • Labels all foods appropriately
    • \n
    • Protects equipment, utensils, food, and other items of inventory from contamination, spoilage, and pilferage

    • Reports accidents and injuries in a timely manner

    • Works under the general supervision of the Social Service Department
    • \n
    • Has daily contact with the potential residents and their families
    • \n
    • Has daily contact with nursing home direct care staff to communicate pertinent resident admission information

REQUIREMENTS:

\n
    \n
  • Minimum Requirements:
      \n
    • High School Diploma or GED required. Two years’ experience in managing a coffee shop or equivalent food and beverage establishment.
    • \n
    \n
  • \n

  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
      \n
    • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation, sanitation
    • \n
    • Knowledge of day to day operations of a coffee and bistro establishment
    • \n
    • Proven face to face customer service experience
    • \n
    • Retail supervision and management experience
    • \n
    • Ability to understand written and verbal communication Ability to communicate and interact effectively in a professional manner
    • \n
    • Knowledge of scheduling staff
    • \n
    • Skill in organization, coordinating, and time management
    • \n
    • Ability to understand and follow safety policies and procedures
    • \n
    • Ability to respond to management and staff level volunteer needs in a timely and professional manner.
    • \n
    • Ability to analyze data and financial records to inform operational decisions and improve efficiency.
