Rehabilitation Assistant (Direct Care)

The task of obtaining housing can be daunting for the one-in-four adults living with a mental illness. Misguided beliefs and stereotyping have caused discrimination, adding to their burden. Our Behavioral Health Services help build independence for these individuals while ensuring that they continue on their track to recovery,  Sound like somehting you would like to be part of?

We are currently seeking Full-time and Part-time Residental Asistants who under the direction of  Program Supervision, will support person-centered recovery based education and direct care services to individuals in transition; with  a behavioral health diagnosis and in some instances, a  co-occurring  addiction (Drug and/or alcohol)  living i a group home setting and/or individual apartment; licensed under the NYS Office of Mental Health site residence.  Arbor provides services to a vulnerable male/female adult population.

Qualifications/Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required and Six (6) month to One (1) year experience and/or training working with the behavioral health, dual diagnosis and/or co-occurring disorder population,
  • Associates Degree in Human Services and Three (3) to Six (6) months experience working with the behavioral health, dual diagnosis and/or co-occurring disorder population,
  • Highly motivated, empathetic individual;
  • Basic computer software knowledge (i.e. Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook...);
  • Familiarity with Thearp, Netsmart or AWARD’s Documentation system a plus;
  • Valid Driver’s License required / must meet and maintain agency auto insurance underwriting guidelines

Key Job Functions:

  • Coach and encourage residents to develop and/or improve their daily living skills;
  • Develop an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) that is timely and based on resident-identified goals and objectives;
  • Assist resident in implementing their Individual Service Plan;
  • Monitor resident self-administration of medication;
  • Monitor and document resident encounters i.e. behaviors, interactions, progress or decline;
  • Organize and facilitate recreational activities;
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparing of meals, including menu planning, shopping; food prep and storage;
  • Encourage resident to participate in maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment;
  • Ensure the health and safety of each resident;
  • Complete administrative duties such as filing and scanning when assigned;
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required for growth and development;
  • Willingness to work as a collaborative team member to ensure efficient operation of the residence;
  • Drive agency vehicle as required, conducting agency/resident business

Arbor Housing and Development offers a comprehensive benefit package,competitive wage and paid time off.

All overnight hours worked, receive an additional $1.00 per hour added to the base hourly rate

*When working on a designated holiday, employees will receive double time.
