Communications & Engagement Consultant (Junior)
About the Opportunity
Our Kamloops branch is currently looking to add a junior communications and engagement consultant to our team. Are you passionate about writing, communications and engagement? You will be working alongside our network of interdisciplinary professionals to help deliver projects and support our work with communities in the areas of communications and engagement, strategic planning, goveranance, adult learning, community and management consulting. In this role you will contribute to our external image and ensure consistency across our project deliverables.

Typical responsibilities may include:
•Work collaboratively with the broader project team to produce well designed and accurate documents and other project materials (e.g., poster boards, presentations)
•Prepare, format, edit and proofread visually appealing proposals, correspondence, documents, graphics, and presentations using MS Word (InDesign considered an asset)
•Copywriting and editing including responsibility for quality control function including reading content and correcting for errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar
•Proactively support proposal and grant process by drafting content specific to RFP/ grant program requirements and working with team members to refine content, overall design, and submission to the client and/or funding programs
•Draft content and presentation information related to governance, management consulting, communications and engagement, course development, social planning and management, and community planning
•Analyze and summarize qualitative survey data into meaningful themes and conduct online research when needed
•Plan documents in accordance with Urban’s brand and/or client branding guidelines including allocating space for text, photos, and illustrations that help convey the document’s meaning
•Supporting the development and maintenance of materials related to Urban’s Sustainability Charter (e.g., tracking sustainability investments and impacts)
•Event organization and coordination on behalf of client projects
•Work with senior curriculum designer to assit clients with adult training initiatives
The ideal candidate for this position is a proactive and energetic self-starter who is committed to providing outstanding service both to our internal teams and to Urban Systems’ clients. We are looking for at least one year of experience in a professional office, ideally in a similar capacity. New graduates are welcomed to apply. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors of Arts Degree and preference will be given to candidates with a major in communications, public relations, and/or other applicable programs with a strong focus on writing. In addition, we are looking for the following core competencies:

•Organization & Time Management – capacity to switch gears quickly to meet the changing needs of our network, coordinates ideas and resources to meet needs and deadlines, demonstrates discernment and ability to prioritize tasks to achieve results in a timely manner
•Highly proficiencient with MS Office and in particular is an MS Word superuser with an eye for producing visually appealing project materials; Adobe InDesign would be considered an asset
•IAP2 Foundations Training would be considered an asset
