Shipping and Receiving Clerk

JOB SUMMARY

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for performing various types of product packing and shipping in accordance with established procedures and standards. This role will support all departments by receiving incoming packages, inventorying items, receiving and checking the contents of packages against packing lists and invoices. Accuracy and attention to detail are key in this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ship orders in a time sensitive and cost-effective fashion
  • Audits each outgoing shipment prior to packing to ensure that goods match orders
  • Create accurate shipping labels for all outgoing orders
  • Responsible for ordering Benziger and Imagery wines for the shipping department
  • Responsible for ordering wine shippers and retail packaging for the shipping department
  • Responsible for checking in all Benziger wine orders from Redwood and Wineshipping
  • Sample and transfer paperwork
  • Master UPS, FedEx, GSO, and Ship Compliant software
  • Deliver incoming packages to correct locations from UPS and FedEx
  • Receive and count merchandise items that are delivered and inform the Retail Merchandising Manager of arrival
  • File damage claim paperwork
  • Collect paperwork and packages from sister winery, Imagery, daily
  • Communicate with customers and tasting room staff about weather delays and follow-up on returned shipments
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory of wines, inventory conducted monthly

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum one year of experience in a winery or other high velocity work-manufacturing environment or equivalent education/work experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently within set guidelines; display appropriate sense of urgency
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office applications, including Excel
  • Ability to multitask effectively and efficiently
  • Previous shipping experience preferred
  • Positive and professional attitude
  • Forklift Certified preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to operate various types of machinery to include, but not limited to: lift trucks; pallet jacks; hand trucks, etc.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry weights of up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing and twisting in the performance of various tasks in the production environment
