Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury is a one-of-a-kind rehabilitation and community re-entry facility in Lake Katrine, NY (near Kingston, NY), specializing in:
* Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
* Ventilator Care and Ventilator Weaning
* Neurobehavioral Disorders
We are the largest traumatic brain injury rehabilitation program in the country, where we call our patients "Neighbors" instead of patients or clients. We are a facility where talented people are given the opportunity to use their special skills and be creative. We are currently looking for a Therapeutic Recreation Leader to join the Northeast Center team.
JOB FUNCTION: Assist with providing efficient Therapeutic Education Department operations, clerical work, and transport support. The Program Assistant will work from written and verbal instructions to administer direct and indirect assistance to all members of the therapeutic education staff.
Transporting selected Neighbors to and from group sessions according the scheduled times.
Helping to clean and maintain a clutter free, safe and efficient class environment, e.g.,
wiping down tables, straightening up furniture, assuring adequate seating
Take attendance and enter data into the Program Database as directed
Communicating with Therapeutic Education staff about any issues of concern
Assisting with large group events as requested
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Up to date nurse’s aide certification (C.N.A.) preferred but not required
Must be a compassionate, outgoing and clearly a people person
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to speak and write the English language
Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional, and physical stress of the position.
Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents and facility personnel.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, and family members, visitors, and the general public.
Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of program areas
Must meet the general health requirements set forth be the policies of this facility.
Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at time, hostile people within the facility.
Must be able to push, move, pull, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds, to a minimum height of 3 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Must be willing to perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids.
