This is a part-time position, about 20 hours per week. The position will mainly support the Support Living Apartments (SLAs) in Des Moines. The hours are Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm.
Mainstream Living, Inc. provides Residential and Vocational services and supports in community settings to persons with intellectual disabilities and mental illness. The Maintenance Tech job duties include maintaining company properties. Tasks include basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, lawn care, landscaping, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Orders supplies, materials, and equipment, within budgetary constraints
Records and submits time and expense by job
Prepares cost estimates
Supervises and assigns work to Asst. PMT
Completes and turns in paperwork at regular intervals
Is responsible and accountable for vehicles, tools, and equipment
Keeps equipment clean and well-maintained
Provides maintenance and minor construction to facilities assigned
Paints facilities, provides lawn care and grounds keeping, provides snow removal as assigned
Performs preventive maintenance
Begins tasks as scheduled and completes within a timely manner
Observes and reports any unsafe conditions
Insures safety of consumers and staff while working
Responds to emergency calls
Works diligently to incorporate and spirit and intent of the organization’s mission into work
Other duties as assigned
Experience in home repairs, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and landscaping required. Flexibility and willing to travel necessary. Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to safely use power tools, ladders, lawn equipment. Knowledge of proper safety procedures for exposure to electrical and construction environments. Excellent driving skills with the ability to drive large vans.
High school diploma or GED required; Completion of a buildings trade program preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
